Week 5/6 Support Group

We'd been having a nice little honeymoon spell since pickup on Saturday.
Today, our drought took a break with showers and threats of hail and severe weather.
Looks like it is clearing up. I hope you Week 5/6ers are doing well.
Still waiting....Probably to be delivered today.
My MA said the digital sound module took more time than expected, my understanding is that as of last night the completed the sound module and union jack door handles. this morning they are to install the CD changer and Ipod adpater. I guess siruis has already been installed.
They started work on Friday, yesterday my MA said 3 techs are working on my car to complete it. 5 days of work going to today? Yeah, something went wrong with the DSM install -- no way it takes that much time, or can it ? Anyone know ?

i agree. you have surpassed holly as the most anticipated mini pic by far now! i had a similar issue with my ipod, nav, bluetooth situation....but at least was allowed to drive it home while they figured out how to get things working. knowing what we know now, i'd say things like bluetooth, dsm, i pod adapters may be better dealt with in the aftermarket arena. mini should be more "up front" with the potential impact of ordering certain options.....and they should definitely know what works and what doesn't!!!!
my advice is to tell them you just want to drive it away by saturday! hang in there, you'll be glad you did. and my belgian ale offer still stands.

Thanks Holly! We dodged all the floods in DFW area and although we had some light rain and moderate mud/rainstorms in San Antonio these last few days, today was perfect, sunny and beautiful. We took a moonlight drive for ice cream a little while ago, top down, of course!
Hello Friends, I brought home our new car last night - I had taken this picture when I got home and was going to post to you all but I really just wasn't in the mood. This car has been 7 months in the making, ordered twice and at the end of the day was not able to be delivered the way it was ordered.
At the dealership I was ready to walk out leave the car, I was with the finance manager at the time and if I had my Volvo keys with me I would have walked out without saying another word to anyone. I was expecting more on my trade so that was a surprise to me. Learning that the Ipod adapter wasn't compatible while I was at the dealership sitting in the car was just yet another cherry on top.
I discussed with my MA that I would not have any issues with financing. I told him I would appreciate it if they would give me the buy rate and accept a flat on the car, he assured me they would. But when I got there he wasn;t there and I can't tell you how pissed I was. Thankfully the Sales Manager fixed the rate, got another $500 on my trade (just a token to appease me more or less) and also was able to get my MA on the telephone - so at least my MA was there before I left.
they said to keep the car under 4500 RPM's, I red lined every gear leaving the dealership down Route 1. I respected it the rest of the way home.
I came in to post the picture I snapped last night and I am going on about the frustrations of it all. I know my MA and Sales Manager fell the same way -- by far glad to see me leave too....and since I know they are reading this (hello Jeremy & Kyle -- I know you both did what you could and your hands were tied through most of the process. But in the future, communication is the key -- honest communication)
OK enough -- I need to get excited again for this car, perhaps after the kids and I go out in it today. After that I can post some good pictures.

cg1,
Very sorry to read about your ongoing frustrations. I think you're right about getting in the car and driving it. That will help you regain the passion you had for the car when you first ordered it. It's truly is a car that begs to be driven and rewards the driver 10-fold. Get out there, put the top down, drive, and send more pics!!

Thanks ! I'll take a few more pictures. I actually enjoyed it this morning, I was with my son (he's wearing the Mini hat in the one pic) and we were just playing with everything.
I am heading over to the audio store this afternoon, hopefully I will be posting about a replacement soon for the HK system in the car now (I can't express what a poor system in my opinion that really is). After that GG is heading over to get his windows tinted -- I'll get some new pictures tomorrow of the tiniting. I think I am going 40% in the front and 30% on the back.
I might lose the 6 CD changer in the back, more often than not those only work with stock systems. I'll know tonight for sure....

Congratulations tony1athome. I think the class of Week 5/6 is pretty much complete now.
Oh to be a MINI convertible driver in the Bay Area/NoCal! All I had when I lived up there was a Toys-R-Us bike, a BART schedule, and an occasional hitch-a-ride in a past-its-prime Honda CRX hatchback!

15% eh ? What will that do to oyur warrantee ?
Congrat's Tony1athome!!
i'm a veteran tinkerer. a mods effect on the warranty varies with a dealer's approach to modding. that said, i've been here before and understand that "you have to pay to play"......in otherwords it may void the warranty. however, many on nam have pullies and only rarely are problems encountered (usually due to faulty installs). btw, your jcw has a smaller pulley than stock....it's one of the best bang for your buck installs for mo' hp. my rear sway bar, strut tower brace, and lower brace are on.....so now we can see the difference between your jcw set up, and my "science project."
happy trails to all the week 5/6ers!!!!!!
sorry for the double post, but.....
cg1 and i got the minis together yesterday. i thought these might look good on the week 5/6 thread.

hope everyone else is working their way through break in & good luck with your rides!

Oxtox - already past the break-in??? Lucky dog! I've only got about 325 miles on mine so far...just filled it up for the first time on Saturday (25mpg on the first tank). I'm still having to drive the troop transport (Odyssey) often - Buzbee is my fun car. So it might take a bit to get past the break-in for me.
My sister and I did take my girls to the Metroplex Mini Easter Egg Hunt in Dallas last weekend and had a great time with a bunch of other Mini drivers (and the Easter bunny!).
MOTOR ON!
-Holly
