Yoohoo! Got the car, drove in rush-hour traffic going home. Such is life in Dallas.

I did make it to 5th gear several times, so that was good. The kids enjoyed riding in it, too!

Everybody else getting closer? I almost cried when I saw it - ordering it and pining for it is one thing...actually sitting in it is something totally different. And good!

Great picture Holly! I'm so glad your wait is over.

Do you use booster seats for the young ones? I have to decide if we'll replace my eight year old's seat when we go pickup Saturday or Tuesday.

NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE looking ride Holly.

I'll get mine on Saturday. Unfortunately, the forecast calls for rain all day with a mix of snow flurries (no accumulation). Could make for an interesting drive from KC to STL. At least I'll get to see how he handles on wet roads right away.

Yes, I do use booster seats for the kiddos - but I had just picked them up from my friend's house (who was keeping them for me) and the seats were in my Odyssey. The girls rode with me in the MINI on the way to school this morning and we put their Graco booster seats in there for that trip - the fit great. My 8-year-old son sits in the base of the Graco booster seat - the seatbelt holder-thingy was irritating him. Here's what each kid has:

I'm a carseat freak, so sorry for this long reply!

TJTULL - sorry about the forecast for your drive home! I hope there are sunny skies in your immediate future!

CG1 - oh, that totally sucks! I hope the car is on its way to you soon - your wait must have been horrible!

I'll assume that this is more than just the Aero body kit that's being installed?

If not, there's gotta be something else wrong. My JCW Aero body kit took only 4 hours at the dealer to install.

Quesera - I've put both the Graco that Holly has *and* a Britax roundabout into the back seat of an R52. No problem.

I am so upset, my family is laughing at me. How can a JCW with an areo kit be delivered to the port after mine and be released and shipped much further than my dealership already. My mini was supposedly just released and MAY be at Princeton tomorrow. My family is mocking me because I have been waiting and blatently BS'd for the past 7 months. I feel like a chump and I am no longer excited for this car. After this Saturday when all my family is at my house, if I do not have the car I am announcing that I finally stepped away from it.

The VDC had no reason in the world to hold my car for 3 weeks, Princeton MIni said they would contac them with the history and ask them to rush it. Apparently their idea of rushing was to laugh at my expense and sit on teh car. I am just not sure how I will feel if i buy the car after this weekend. I sort of drew a line in the sand with my family and targeted this weekend when we are all getting together.

I hate my situation and I think no matter what I will always resent my mini. I feel so let down by Mini and there is just no one else to contact.

I am so happy for all of you that got your cars ! No matter what I'll post an out come this Sunday.

The stripes look awesome! Those are exactly what I had planned on doing for my MINI.

Saturday's the big day! Be kind if you see an econo-rental driving north up 35 with three starry-eyed passengers. Actually wife and daughter will likely be snoozing while I drive the econobox all the while with little MINIs dancing in front of my eyes.

I spoke to my MA - they will have the car today, I am hoping they get it early and get to work on it. I want to take delivery tomorrow and shut my family up (a 7 month wait for a car breeds jokes to the likes that you can;t immagine -- I finally flipped my lid on my family and slightly on my dealership)

How is it that Mini can build a car in 5 days but the port requires 3 weeks to install JCW and an Areo kit? I can see 3 days on the JCW and 1 on the Areo...but three weeks (really 2 days shy of 3 weeks).

I ordered my new MCS on 2/9. It arrived at my dealership on 3/12 and i will be picking it up on 3/18. I'd definitely keep calling 1866 ASK MINI to get more accurate info than the Owners Lounge - at least until you get to the port, then you'll have to use your MA.

I noticed that just about every stage of OL took about one week to change; pretty much every Friday and once on a Thursday.

Hope this helps.

We're home! 300 miles twice in a day, once in a Chevy Cobalt rental, and once in a 2008 Sparkliing Silver Mini Cooper S Sidewalk Edition with chrome package, chrono pack, cold weather, front and rear fogs, and LSD! Can you guess which one we took home?

The dealer experience was great! I'll give all the details and pictures tomorrow, actually later today, after all the caffeine and euphoria have given way to to a little sleep.

Thanks to all you NAMers and especially Week 5/6 support group!

So I figured it would be Monday, my MA called me yesterday and said Tuesday.

He said the Digital Sound Module is not something ordered very often and it will take the tech every bit of 6 hours to complete. He also said the union jack door handles are another 6 hours.

I guess after waiting 7 months a couple more days won't matter. I am up in the air on financing, I am hoping that the dealership will help me get a good rate....my frirend is a finance manager and he said the rates are good now, providing the dealership will pass the rate along to me without inflating it. Once things are settled I'll post and get some pictures up ASAP.
