R56 Production Week 46 Support Group

Well, it looks like no one has started the support group for week 46.

So, I guess I'll start one. My order has been placed today [10/31/07] and my MA told me that it will be built in week 46.

I hoped that it would fall in week 45 but oh well.

Still, very excited to get a mini, and just cannot wait til December!

I'm in this week also, I think; I ordered October 30!

And I completely understand about being excited! Though not as long as some, I've been waiting to order for a couple months now!

I'm week 45 and they are finishing up the week 45 cars this week, so unless your car is "in production" I wouldn't count on it.

Darn. My MA was too optimistic.

Just checked the order status via Ask MINI: it's now Scheduled for Production (with no order date)!

It looks like I'm a week 46'er. ol.miniusa.com and 866-ask-mini does not indicate a production estimate. But the customer service people at 866-ask-mini knew. I've been told production started already (Nov. 3), and it was expected to be finished by the end of this week. Excellent.

Yup, mine is the same! We should also have VINs now, I have mine! The guy I talked to said it was probably in the body shop about to get a fresh coat of Lightning Blue paint in the paint booth!!

I do indeed have a VIN.

I'm so freakin' excited I can hardly bear it. I don't remember Christmas as a kid being this good.

Looks like I'm in production with you guys as well (though I swear my MA said this was week 45). The computer voice claims my car should be finished on the 9th.

Is anyone else really hating the 866-ASK-MINI menu system? Just give me numbers to push. I don't want to have to say things into the phone and look like a complete maroon! I can't count the number of times I've had to hang up and redial because it misheard me. Ah, the joys of being a mumbler.

Wait for the list of options. Type "2".
Type in your "vehicle production number".
Press "1" when it asks if you've inputted a production number or a VIN.

LOL... At this point, the next big step for all of us is figuring out which boat we're on and if we're able to track it. At that point, it should be really fun because we'll be able to follow it across the pond (if the carrier publicizes that info)!

Yeah... know what you mean. Then again, right now I'm fairly calm and cool because I'm still saving and haven't finalized the sale of my current car. However, by the time the car gets to the delivery center in early December I will be so excited I won't know what to do with myself!

I'm suffering from a bit of 'Holy carp, that was expensive!' sticker shock, which I realize is entirely my fault for going waaay too option happy. I'd initially planned on getting a BRG/W Cooper w/ a sunroof and stereo upgrade. That's it. It's going to all feel just fine once the car gets here though. I don't know if I'm going to be able to keep myself away while it's sitting at the dealer getting the bra and door sills installed.

I'm definitely not looking forward to going through the bother of selling my current car (and timing that perfectly so I'm not w/o a vehicle), but there was no way I was going to take what the dealer was offering me on a trade in.

I've been pushed back a day until the 10th. Hopefully I'll still be able to get on to the Boheme (sailing the 13th) or the Liberty (sailing the 17th).

Where did you find out what boats are leaving when? Anyway, if they finish up our cars the 9th or 10th, I would see the logic in making either boat. Since it's late in the model year, I could see the traffic being low enough that we could make the Boheme in the 3-4 days we'd have to get to the boat. Alternatively, things rarely go as fast as they should, so with that logic we'd be on the Liberty. There's also an outside chance we'll be on a mystery ship. :/

That said, let's be positive and make the Boheme!!

Cool deal! Looking at the arrival times to Charleston, the earliest my MINI will get there is 11/27 and 12/1. If it slips to the Courage, I'm looking at 12/8! For some reason, I don't see the Otello listed.

The Otello probably only does the Southampton->NY,NY run, and doesn't swing down to Charleston.

I wonder which VDC my car will get dropped off at; they're both about the same distance from Cincinnati.

I'm still scheduled to end production on the 9th (unless the MINI Answertron 2000 is messing with me), so hopefully I'll go out on a Boheme on the 14th and hit the States before December.

If you search by voyage "NA746-OTL" it goes to other US locations but not Charleston. Search at http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppSchedules/voyageSearch.do (I found the voyage by looking for NY -> Southampton trips.)

Please forgive my ignorance but how did you all find out the exact day that you car was scheduled to finish production. I've been looking on ol.miniusa.com but with that I only find out when it is done not before. I am expecting a week 45 build but I have very little other info.

Thanks,
John

Call up the MINI hotline (866-ASK-MINI), and (have your production number handy) the automated system will give you an estimated finish date, or if you're willing to actually talk to a person on the phone (I refuse.) you can get details on exactly where in the production process your car is.

I was initially told Nov. 9 by a customer service person at 1-866-ASK-MINI and then my MA. The automated system at 1-866-ASK-MINI briefly reported Nov. 9 but has moved me to Nov. 10.

On the website, it still shows "in order" like it did last week. I ordered mine on Oct. 31 and I have no idea wheather it has been put to production or any info about the build. Would calling 1-866-ASK-MINI or contacting the MA more be accurate?

Yes; talking to the customer support people at 1-866-ASK-MINI or your MA will give you more timely information than the automated system or ol.miniusa.com. In fact, I don't think ol.miniusa.com gives an estimated production completion date (the automated system at 1-866-ASK-MINI does). My mini was three days into production and the automated system did not notice; the customer service people did. Eventually the automated system caught up.
