All Aboard the TAGUS! (Week 31) Leaving Southhampton 8/9/07
Going, Going, GONE! Next stop: Pacific Ocean, then VDC, then dealer, then twisty turny roads taking long way home, then gas station, then more twisty turny roads, then gas station, then more twisty turny roads, then gas station, then.....
The link below is for AIS west coast, they have updated the software and much easier to find ships once in port, before you could not really zoom in and see your ship. Good luck and hope the time passes fast for all.

can't wait for next week! My MA told me they would be calling me shortly before arrival at the dock to see if I wanted to make any changes to the options that get installed at the VDC.
. Everyone, make sure you touch bases if you don't hear from them in case you would like to make changes. Typically VDC installation costs are lower than dealer.I think I will cancel the JCW Aero kit and add the JCW Steering Wheel...
Congratulations to all you anxious owners, last of the trek which is short compared to the last 11 days or so. You may want to start checking AIS for Tagus about 24 -48 hours before the scheduled arrivial date. Some how Tarifa cut off 36 hours of the trek over other ships and arrived a day early.

I am now emotionally and physically drained! Haven't slept much in the past two days but I think I can now rest until TAGUS gets closer to the left coast. Thank you again...
You are very welcome, will be watching for some pics of your new toy.
Rest well, less to worry about in the Pacific, she is a lot calmer than the Atlantic and noen of those little hurricanes to worry about.
Thank you Lil A for giving me a chronicle of the passage. It won't be long now everyone!
Good Morning all! Well, I got over most of my grumpiness last night. I sounded like a sailor watching my photos click to live time.
Many apologies to all who are reading captions that have nothing to do with the now multiple live cam postings!!! Oops! Hope some of those can be deleted!!
Tharkun and Lil A - THANKS!!!
Lil A- I left a PM for ya!

Cool! Love that photo!
Had a dream last night that my MA never called me, and when I called, they had sold Scoop without ever telling me she was in! It was a horrible nightmare! I've waited 6 years for this!!!!

I just found out that my baby (as yet unnamed) is on the Tagus as well. I am so excited (My husband calls me 'obsessed'). When is it due into Hueneme? Does anyone know? And then I wonder how long to Portland? AAAAGH! Going crazy!
There is no such thing as too obsessed here (my husband would disagree. . .) and everyone is really supportive! I suck at posting photos, but Lil A and Tharkun got some great ones on prior pages of this thread. . .check out the cargo ship going through the Panama Canal!!!The Tagus should be in Pt. Hueneme (Oxnard, CA) August 31, and go through the Vendor Distribution Center for clean up, etc. I'm figuring maybe a week after that? 2 weeks?
Mini2na is up your way in WA. . .maybe you'll meet at the dealer!
OMG- this month has flown! Just looked at the calendar and realized THIS FRIDAY is the 31st!!!!!! Whoooo hoooooo!!!!!
Quick poll: How do you pronounce "Tagus"?
I have no clue, so give it a long A with the stress on the first syllable "TAY - gus"

As far as the pronunciation of TAGUS, I always just pronounced it like, tag, you're it TAGUS... Never even thought of it any other way. Interesting... Looks like something else to research:impatient I say we give that job to Kimberly since she hasn't been obsessing enough
Ok Kimberely- - - TAG! You're it! How is this ship's name really pronounced? Your mission, for those late night/early morning MINI-obsessed hours, is to discover this!
Here's my random fact. . . It costs about $3.25 per ton to crate our MINIs across the seas. Not bad, hmmm?

I have been going crazy at the MINI tracking site. "En route" was just way too vague for me. It was driving me completely batty. But if 'obsess' too much my husband will stick me in a small padded room. He is already being condescendingly irritating. He shant be my co-pilot unless he behaves! I have pugs anxiously awaiting that honour anyway.
Everyone, I had an interesting conversation regarding leasing. I had never considered it before and probably still will go with financing, but here is what the bottom line wasf or me: IF I finance half of the cost of the MINI for 36 mo. (the length of the lease at 15K mi/yr) the payments are about the same for each. If you bank the down payment, until the end of the lease, you have to come up with about $5000 to purchase or ($140 more a month). This could be attractive in certain situations like wanting to beat the car (heaven forbid) or having a non-totaled accident. You just walk away from the car.
I am SOOOO glad I'm back at school now. The summer-time waiting was hard, hard, hard to do.
