All Aboard the TAGUS! (Week 31) Leaving Southhampton 8/9/07
Has anyone been able to get the aisfree/aislive website to work? When I log in all I get is a snapshot of Europe. Can't figure out how to get the area around the U.S. to work. Any help???? Thanks
I do have the live cam from the Panama Canal on my desktop now just so I can torture myself and watch all the other ships go by! Hopefully, TAGUS will be coming along soon. According to the WW site it is due at Manzanillo on Thurs. 8/23 and at Pt Hueneme on the 31st. So I guess all things considered one day behind previous schedule isn't so bad!!
The link below will get you the Panama Canal area, by clicking on the map you go move from the Atlantic side through the canal to the Pacific side. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Tharkun! It worked
Tonight I received an email from the media relations manager for WW re: the Tagus. He's on vacation until Thursday, but said he would look into helping us out with the tracking. We'll see!

BTW - I talked with my sales rep yesterday and asked for an estimate of delivery in Portland. He gave me date of ~9/20.
When pressed about the long delay, he asked me to imagine him giving a new MINI owner a date that he might NOT be met. I had to laugh and understood it could be earlier.
Yes, thank you for your efforts.

So ya, most good MA's will state dates with some extra time, especially for the VDC in case things get backed up.

So go with the 9/20 and hope for sonner.
Yes, thank you for your efforts. No problem! One of my sleepless, obsessed early morning products!!!!

He goofed up on my order and didn't put in the Chrome Exterior I'd had on my order sheet. Obviously I think they should fix it free of charge, and they'll probably do that. . . So I keep stressing and thinking that if they DON'T fix it, I'll maybe cancel the order and start over at a different dealership. Then I wonder if it's really worth it. . . GRRR! I want my Scoop and I want her to be perfect!
I'm SURE you'll have your MINI before the 20th!

Scoopmama, I completely understand your dillema. Since you have to order the car in the first place, you want it to be just exactly how you want. But to reorder would be excruitiating
I think you should make the dealership add the chrome exterior for FREE since it was their fault for missing it!! You wouldn't want to disappoint Scoop would you!!
Ok, all, TAGUS should be traversing the Panama Canal today!!
I have the live web cam up on my desktop and maybe I will get a glimpse of all our babies happily touring Panama!! The WW site doesn't show that it has reached Manzanillo, so I'm guessing that it is somewhere along the canal!!

I just checked the aislive site and it shows the Tagus in the Cristobal Anchorages. It looks like it's docked in a port on the Atlantic side...probably offloading the Central/South American orders before heading into the canal...
Looks like there's a lot of ships waiting their turn to go through the canal so it might be awhile before the Tagus goes through. Yesterday I saw a ship called Hyundai Unity and it was in the Cristobal Anchorages. It is just now going through the canal. I sure hope it doesn't take the Tagus two days to go through....
I too will be checking the webcams throughout the day so somebody should catch it and provide us all with a picture!
BTW, I got absolutely no sleep last night because I was so excited about seeing the Tagus come through the canal today
Anyone else tired today????

Just some info for you anxious owners, the WW sight just updated showing Tagus has left Manzanillo which is actually a duty free port on th Atlanitc side of the canal. AISfree has not updated so still showing it at the dock. From the time schedule Tagus could go thru the locks today, or early tomorrow morning. Good luck tracking her thru the canal, if it is day light on your passage you can get some good pics if you have time to watch the cams. Takes 7 - 9 hours from entrance to exit of the lock system usually.
Tharkun - I LOVE you! Here you already have your MINI, and are still taking the time to get us through this trauma of waiting!
Thanks for all the info, reassurance and support!
It's like I tell my friends with thumbsucking kids. . .you don't know anyone who still thumbsucks in public as an adult! We all will get through this and be ensconced in our MINI seats, whatever the material is, soon!!!

If you use the AISFree sight and watch the canal for a while, you can estimate when Tagus will get to a lock. AISFREE can be 1 to 2 hours delayed, so after watching a few ships go thru a loock, you can pretty well nail the time to watch a cam.
I'll be around most of the day and will try to post my extimation of a lock time line.

Tagus is moving!
I just noticed that AISFREE shows that Tagus has undocked and is steaming northward. I suspect it will make a big 180 degree turn to the south and line up for transit through the Gatun locks soon.
Given that we're looking back in time via AISFree, seems like now would be a good time to keep a close eye on the Gatun webcams...

Well Tagus is now outside the break waters, and if this is typical of the past, she may anchor for the night, and head back in for the Gatun locks in the morning. This is just from past observations so take it at that.
Yep, the aislive site shows Tagus waaaayyyy up north from it's earlier docked position and no where near the locks. My guess is we wont see it go through until tomorrow
So...am I correct in assuming the Gatun locks is for southbound traffic and the Miraflores is for northbound? In other words, are you sure we need to be watching the Gatun locks or is it possible the Tagus could go through the Miraflores? This whole thing has made me bonkers! :impatient

So I've been staring at the aislive site non-stop since my last post, refreshing it every 5 minutes or so. Tagus hasn't moved. Wife is yelling "Get a life!" in the background. Trash is piling up. Dog is hungry. I'm hungry! Can't seem to walk away from the computer. I really need some professional help.

Tagus should start movment in the morning as she is anchored for the night now.
