All Aboard the TAGUS! (Week 31) Leaving Southhampton 8/9/07
OK, I think it fitting to toast on those two occasions PLUS docking in CA, then again when the Minis go home for the first time. And for all other occasions we deem worthy. First tank of gas, first trip to the store, first corner on 2-wheels. . .
As for the 3 day late departure.... I think that deserves some sort of action fitting of a delay. Any ideas?
What happens on Tagus, stays on Tagus?

Ok, maybe I drank too many Bahama Mama's because I was depressed about the late departure, but has any one else noticed the ship's name, TAGUS, can be spelled with the letters in August? The same month is leaves in! Sorry... I'm sure it's just me being weird again.... never mind
No, weird is good!
I just spent about 2 minutes trying to come up with something else, but am too tired, have not imbibed anything tonight
and must go to bed after checking the Southampton live dock cam once again!

Good Morning! Just checked the live cam for Southampton. It's currently 4:07 pm there on the 11th. Who knows? If they move quickly, Tagus MIGHT, just MIGHT, depart before we go to bed tonight!
Ooh, this is getting exciting! My husband can't believe I'm this worked up about a car, period, much less one I haven't even met yet! I've tried to explain that it isn't just any car, it's my Mini, and she's Scoop.
Well, he might get it a little bit. He had two Morris Minor woodies in high school that he rebuilt and still remembers. He's hoping the Clubman offers a wood panel option!

Nope, Irvine.
I wish we lived up in the Bay area - did for a while, but we're down in OC for the long-haul (good jobs, grandparents, etc. . .)
Maybe a retirement home up there SOMEDAY!

Tagus departs in three hours!
Good news...it looks like the Tagus got done early with whatever it had to get done. The official Southampton port schedule (http://www.southamptonvts.co.uk/shipping_movments.asp) has it leaving at at 23:00 on August 11th, or by my advanced calculations, about three hours from now!
Previously the departure time for Tagus was listed as 8/12 sometime in the "PM". I doubt they would have changed it on the schedule if it wasn't going to happen.

I am hoping to find someone else who's car is on the same boat. I bet there are a few...
Looks like she's finally on the move!
just checked this link

we must have switched places. My last job before relocating was an office in Irvine near Barranca and Red Hill. I hear the Tustin Air Base is being turned into a giant shopping center. You're right! It's the El Toro Marine Base that is the great park concept. Tustin lives up to its old motto. ..Work where you must, but live and shop in Tustin!

The base is actually going to built along the lines of a great park. Marketing is comparing it to Balboa Park in San Diego, but I think it's going to more sports oriented, and not have the cool museums. They DO have a fun Orange hot air balloon on a cable right now that looks like fun. Think I'll take the kids before school starts.
Probably if you start a thread with Mountain View Mini, someone will catch it!
I say we break out the champagne!!!!! Tagus is on the move, I hear!

This is much too exciting. Anyone picking up their baby in PHX?
Had to get up early and send my men off for a fishing trip. So before going back to bed, I emailed the following to the WW office in Pt. Hueneme. Who knows if we'll get a response, but I thought it couldn't hurt to try, right?
I'll post their response when I get it! Back to bed, now. Mission accomplished.
Good Morning! I represent about 65 highly enthusiastic MINI Cooper owners, who have been happily tracking the production and early transport history of their MINI Coopers.
In logging onto the sailwx.info site, we noticed many ships in the WW line are up-to-date in their locations, but the Tagus is not. Obviously, our cars on on the Tagus!
1. Is the call sign still laza2?
If if has changed, could you let me know what the new one is?
2. If the call sign is still laza2, below is the current message and date about its location off the Baja Coast from July 2006! Would it be possible to contact the captain and find out if updating the location is a possibility? Many MINI fans would be thrilled!

I can rest a little easier now that I know my baby is on its way.
Curious as to where you got the call-sign "laza2"
I was trying to find the call-sign for the Courage, but can't seem to locate that info anywhere.

and scroll to the very bottom of the page. You can enter your ship's name, and this will give you the call sign. Then take it from there! Tell us what the next phase looks like, since all Tagus voyages since July 06 have gone untracked!
Good luck!
I was actually tracking the Tagus last night on the AIS Free site last night, it was about an hour behind the Courage
I shall check the other site for the call sign.
Edit, can't find the call-sign by searching for the ship name "courage"
Oh well.

Try call sign " WDC6907 " for the Courage.
TRACKING
Tracking any of the WW ships after leaving the AISfree area is about a 50/50 chance. If the ship you are on does not have the hardware/software for the AIS system weather reporting, then you won't be able to track her. Then even if your ship has the capabilities to report to AIS, it is the Captains decision if he chooses to use it. As you can see the current tracking info for Tagus is outdated, most likely the last time the Captain used the system. The call sign is "LAZA2"
Information about the Targus can be found at: http://www.ww-group.com/services/shi...s/MVTagus.aspx
Hope this helps some.
