I ordered a glove box organizer too - green felt of course. I was wondering when you would show up MINI2NA. Good to see the gang all back safe and sound. Gotta run though - golfing twilight. Later.

Kimberly...how was golf? Kick hubby's butt? So...does anyone have any experience with this expensive tint BMW/Mini installs and if so, is it worth the cost or should I just go with the less expensive stuff? Expensive = 90% heat blockage (alledgedly), Less Expensive = 53%. Please let me know if you have this knowledge.... Thx

Golf sucked ~ I cannot see a darn thing at twilight. I lost at least two sleeves of *****. I started playing with my "found" ***** just to minimize the damage. That being said, we had a ton of fun and hardly anyone was out there (now I know why). It is the prettiest darn course you ever saw, right in the Columbia Gorge. I am thinking more and more about color coordinating my gear with the MINI. I am going to start keeping an eye out for the perfect bag right away .

Tagus Status

Per the WW sight, the Tagus leaves Port Hueneme today for Tacoma WA. MINI has not changed status from 'en route' and the Cargo Status history at WW does not indicate that my babe has been unloaded yet. I don't know that they work Sundays (or holidays for that matter) so maybe nothing will get updated until Tuesday/Wednesday.

Good Morning Kimberely~ We were checking the same stuff I guess!
It looks like Tagus has left Pt. Hueneme, so I think at this point we rely on our dealers (or I rely on one of yours ) for information! The OL is just too far behind to be useful!

If someone saved the bill of lading number ( 3 minutes later) I saved the booking number, so am going to check and see if it shows our MINIs as unloaded!

I stepped outside to get the paper this morning: 80 degrees at 6:30. Yuck!
Driving out to meet my mom IN THE FREAKIN' DESERT today for breakfast!!! Oh well, AC is a good thing! (I think on a day like today I can call Corona/Norco a desert!)

I found this post from Dave who got to tour the VDC. Sadly, all the photos are gone now. It looks like there is a small chance we got processed yesterday. I guess today and tomorrow are out with the holiday

On Saturday January 24th, the Los Angeles Chapter of the BMWCCA toured the BMW Vehicle Distribution at Port Hueneme in Oxnard, California (approximately one hour West of L.A., just off the Pacific Coast Highway). There are similar BMW facilities in New Jersey and South Carolina that serve the East Coast.

The VDC was up and running even though it was Saturday. Our tour guide, Eric, stated that they normally worked 7AM to 4PM M-F, but worked Saturdays when there was high demand for "Priority One" vehicles (Priority One is a car that is already sold).

I saw his post with all the pics too.

Well, here are my thoughts: The MINIS were unloaded (had to be - the Tagus is shipping out today) - but they may sit until Tuesday to get recorded. Inspections and such through Thurs/Friday. Hopefully on trucks by Friday/Saturday. At dealers 10 - 14th. Then a day or so for extra mods and such. Everyone should be able to meet babes by 15th - 20th hopefully (depending on how far the truck has to go) - All you in CA count yourselves lucky.

Scoop - have a nice breakfast!

That's what I saw earlier, but today the photos in the thread I checked were all gone

Anyway, it's HOT here today, but the good news for our little MINIs is that it's a balmy 78 degrees in Oxnard! No blisters on the tires, bubbles on the paint, or warping of the dash!

Just look at the time~! I was going to sleep, then had to get up because I came up with the perfect personalized license plate! Someone beat me to it! And it's a reference to Monty Python. Who would have thought???
But I could get an almost identical one by replacing a letter "o" with a heart symbol. . .

What do you think?

Instead of something like MOM, M *Heart* M. . .

40 bucks a year to renew instead of 30. Not too bad!

I never even wanted a personalized plate before, and now I'm spending too much time on the DMV site!! This is a bad thing.

Someone help me.

Scoopmama, you can actually get symbols on your license plates and not just numbers and letters?

I guess that's a Cali thing.

WA doesn't let us use symbols

But I have been thinking about vanity plates myself. So far I have three decent ideas: WEE ONE, WEE BRG, and SCAMP. Still brainstorming......

I've been on the MVD site trying to figure out a plate since the day I ordered my Mini! I can't believe you just started obsessing about that... I think I finally settled on a plate but I don't dare tell you yet what it is... everytime I think of a good one it gets taken or is taken...

Can you replace the O with a 0? Does your DMV website allow you to view the plate? I really like the heart idea. Just realize there are a lot of rocket scientists out there who will ask what the plate means. People like Tharkun's neighbors! Great plate though!

This is good. Vanity plate ideas seem like a great thing to focus on as we continue to wait, wait, wait. I've noticed that the east coasters are getting their cars built a week after ours.

Have you seen the thread on the 2008 options showing up already? The doorsills and tach displays look nice. I wish we were getting the USB option on the sound system.

I see Kimberley started a vanity plate thread. It would be fun to see what the vanity plates people have. I'm not above taking someone's idea from another state.

I had to start another thread - I still need ideas. With all of the MINI individualism out there, vanity plates should be the punctuation of them.

Ok TAGUS family...here's the deal... I will send you my personalized plate idea in a private message ONLY because you're in another state. I don't want any of these Zonies stealing my plate idea before I can get it! (yes I'm paranoid) If I tell you, you have to promise on your Mini's safety you wont release it to ANYONE! This is TOP SECRET stuff man!!

In the mean time...here's a couple ideas that didn't make the cut. Feel free to use them as you wish

6Y MINI (or 6E MINI)
SI BIG DE (Big Inside)
SI QT DE (Cutie Inside--for you gals--NOT for me)
07 R56

Hey, it's competitive out there in MINI-land! What I think is cute my hubby thinks is awful. We liked one thing: taken! I thought I had it pegged today, ran it past a few Monty Python fans, and they thought it was way too obscure. Back to the drawing board!
And yes, Lil A- I'd love to hear your choices! I like the ones you shared- creative!!!!!

Lil A - that is a great list. Can't wait to hear what you settled on.

Scoopmama - back to school tomorrow for you? We begin Wednesday.

Kimberely -interesting thread you began on the plates.

Tharkun - Can you conjure up a truck tracking site for the trip to the NW?

Well, the vanity plate ISSUE continues! Now, this is crazy! I've had my wonderful Saturn wagon for 10 years, and the other for 12 1/2. I don't know either of their plates, nor the VIN number! But Scoop. . . well! her VIN is this wonderful acronym. Love it! Must have cool plates! Wish Californians hadn't taken so many!

Yes, tomorrow I go back officially to school. Spent a couple of days last week in my classroom, so I'm ready to start. Meetings tomorrow, and our 7th graders only on Wed. (That way the big, insensitive 8th graders can't annoy them on their first day!) 5:30 wake up. Ugh!:impatient
Oh well, my students buy me lots of Starbucks gift cards. . .they know I'm not a morning person by choice!
