What Colour Should I Paint My Wheels?

My Enkei NT03s are getting a little tired looking with a few chips and some curb rash. I really like these wheels and want to re-finish them before putting some PS4S on.

To have them re-done in Hyper Black as they are is ridiculously expensive. Basically the same as buying new. So now I'm thinking about having them painted but I'm not sure if I should go black, or silver, or maybe gun metal.

What do you folks think?

I assume that the car is yours..?
YOU have to live with it, YOU are driving it, YOU have to wash it, etc., etc.

Therefore, shouldn't it be YOU that picks any modifications, color changes, etc. ?

I wouldn't paint them -- they look good as they are. But I should mention that silver is the only acceptable color for wheels in my opinion.

Yeah, I really like the Hyper Black. Unfortunately the process to have them re-done is over $1000 because it takes several days as opposed to stripping and painting which is about 1 day. They also do tend to chip easily and I have a few good chips in them hence the reason for wanting to "rejuvenate" them.

I'm leaning towards black but it does make the wheel look smaller. Maybe I need to refresh myself on photoshop.

No kidding. Doesn't mean I don't like having people's opinion. Nice use of all caps BTW. Doesn't make you sound condescending at all.

You can see a big chip at 10 o'clock and a couple of small ones.

I painted my rims MINI paint code 668 Jet black. They are not mounted yet but I love this colour. It is a pain in the a$$ to do it but boy they look great. 668 is the trim colour of the roof colour of my car.

Back before I got my pepper white R53, I almost got a chili red one and I was browsing around looking at the various ways people hooked them up.

I came to favor the bronze wheel look because I like the contrast and it really pops in my opinion.

This pic was a fave:

Good job on the rims Clubman. Those look really good and that is basically the colour I'm leaning towards. Still working on the Minister of Finance though to get the funds to re-finish the euro chrome.

I really used to like gold or copper rims on red cars. They really do pop but I'm mellowing in my old age.

I can relate.

Since you still have the chrome accents, a polished lip with dark colored wheels would work well methinks:

Another thing,
although I'm not really a fan of rim rings, I do think they somehow work with red cars:

They sorta remind me of the old Hot Wheels!

Clubman those look great! Did you get them mounted yet? How does rim painting work... does it need a clear coat? I'm leaning towards having my rims either painted or powder coated and I'm trying to figure out how much work they will be to keep up with.

They aren't mounted yet. I just did the inside decals though. I'm still building the car under the "good God I bought another clubman " thread.

Powder coated may be cheaper I believe but with paint you get an exact mini colour if you want.

Thanks guys for all the replies and ideas. I decided to live with the small blemishes for the summer and have them painted bright silver this winter.

I still have some performance mods I'd rather do (dyno tune in particular) than a purely cosmetic one at this time.
