Help!! Cannot loosen caliper bolts to replace brake rotors

Hey everybody, does anybody have any experience in loosening the two bolts that keep the break calipers on the car? I can get the two to replace the pads but cannot get the two that hold the caliper to the wheel hub. I soaked the dang things in PB Blaster and they still won't budge.

What tool are you using to loosen them?

If you're talking about the bolts that hold the caliper frame on, you just need an impact 6 point socket and either an impact wrench or a big breakover bar.

You are turning them the right way, right? Remember righty tighty, lefty loosey.....

Yeah, those are the ones. Looks like I'm gonna have to get an impact wrench. There's not enough room to get a breaker bar under there. Thanks!

I did. Mine last week and found the same...those are darn tight bolts. What I found helped was with the car up on stands and both wheels off, rotate the steering and voilà! You can get a good sized bar in then and they come off easy. They are less torque than the wheel bolts so i found my torque wrench worked well here.

Btw, a nice thing if you do the rears....you don't need to take off the caliper holder...the rotors will just co me out ok. Hoorah!

You got to put some man into it! No really they are a pain in the ***.Also once you break them free get a box wrench because there is a nut that is between the caliper and the head of that bolt.

I usually just use a BFH... Im pretty sure there was enough room

I also had just enough room on jack stands to use my 4' piece of 2" galv fence pipe as a breaker

Going to go to my uncle's place and use a breaker bar and possibly the impact wrench if I need to. Portos, there is more to take those things off after pulling those bolts off??

just the 2, and I think the rotor has a screw that screws it to the hub. I think some people leave them off if they so happen to be a PITA, so they dont have to deal with it next time.... the wheels will hold the rotor on just fine

I use my impact wrench to remove the torx screws that hold the rotor hats on too, works a treat and doesn't screw the heads up.

If you have an impact wrench available - use it to remove things, but not to retighten - use a torque wrench for that.

No but there is the bolt head then part of the caliper then a nut then the rest of the caliper. So you will need a box wrench to hold it once you break the bolt loose.

Does anyone know the torque setting for the bolts that attach the caliper frame to the wheel hub?

I put on a Detroit Tuned Stage 1 kit yesterday and tightening is the last thing I need to do.

It seemed to go mostly smooth for my first brake job. Well, if the car stops

Thanks,

Sorry to bring this up again, but what are the torque specs for the caliper frame to the wheel hub on the JCW calipers. Same as R56 (110Nm?). THanks.
