When to replace pads and rotors R5X JCW

Hey people. At what thickness should I be replacing pads and rotors on my R58 JCW? I have a digital caliper already for measuring.

My brake replacement light isn't on yet but the pads look worn enough to repair prior to my next track outing.

And rotors I just need to know the measurement.

Finally for pads do you measure just the thickness of pad material of pad+backing plate?

When measuring rotors do you measure from contact surface to contact surface? Even on a vented rotor?

Thanks in advance!

Most places recommend when your pads are at 3-4mm. Just measure the thickness of the pad material itself. I'm not too sure about thickness for the R58, but here is a thread on NAM about the 1st gen MINI rotor thickness.

Hello

The Min. thickness of the rotors are marked on the side of the rotor hat if Genuine MINI and on the edge stamped if aftermarket.

See it at the top.

Pads once you touch or trip the head of the brake pad sensor just replace them.

On the rotor its the worn contact area to contact area of pad. Not the lip edge.

As a fellow R58 JCW rotor. Let me know if you need anything else.

I'm sure the JCW's have a wear sensor like the other ones.I don't think the sensor will allow the pad to get 3-4 MM's.I could be wrong.

When I did the rears on my wife's,there must have been 1/4" of pad left after the sensor was triggered.
