Flat run Goodyears worn after 7K miles

I have a 2009 Mini S Hardtop and the tires have already worn out. What's with that? These are 16 in Goodyear. What's the best run flats to replace them with? Thanks.

Wow. You must drive the wheels off your MINI :-) Are they all worn to the indicators?

I've got a set of Goodyear runflats with 15,000 miles (for sale), and they've still got about 6/10ths remaining.

This seems to happen to quite a few people. I'm wondering if is because the car is understeering coming off turns and people are scrubbing the tires to death by accelerating too early.

Probably the wrong tire pressure

Runflat tires need more then 32psi or they will self destruct in 1/2 the milage they should. I don't know about the 16 inch tires but the 17 inch tires use 38psi. The pressure sticker on the inside of your drivers side door sill will show what psi to use. That is what is needed in the tires to wear correctly.

Between the stiff sidewalls and the 38psi the car rides harsh but the tires will last longer. I have the Dunlap 17 inch on my JCW and It don't look like they will ever wear out just because I want to buy Michelin non-runflats.

The 16 in are 33 psi which I have checked consistently. All have been losing air (about 3 psi) for the past 2 months and then the back rear went to 20 psi and when I took it in to the dealer, they said it had a nail but the service order said the tire was won to the wear bars and when I checked the reast of them, they all were worn. I'm a "mature" woman so it's not like I'm driving like a bat out of hell taking corners on 2 wheels...

You don't have to be going fast to cause tire scrub.

It would be cheaper as you would only need to replace 2 tires...
I just ordered a set of ContiSportContact 3 for mine. I read lots of reviews and for the price I could not resist them (came out to about $140 each installed) the next closest thing price wise was a Cooper Zeon All Season from the local dealers ($140. each without installation).
The Contis have a lower tread life but traction (safety) and comfort was the selling point for me.

I just wore out my Dunlop 9000 DSST Run-flats in 14k. Is that "normal"? The insides of the tires are worn down to the cords. The tread looks alright in the middle to the outside, but on the insides its UGLY. Anything to do with negative camber or driving style? I don't drive too aggressive. Replacing these things isnt cheap. I hope this is the exception, not the norm.

My own original Goodyears lasted 5,500 miles.

Since you don't drive all that fast you should be guided by the tire's Tread Wear Rating and go with the highest rating that you'll find (maybe the Continental tires).

Keep your tire pressures at a minimum 36 psi cold, check your alignment at a quality shop and rotate Front to Rear at 40% wear of the front tires.

Good luck.
