Might have to replace a tire already???

I have had my new 08 MCS for less than three weeks and less than 1200 miles. I hit a pothole during last week, and noticed that I have a bulge in the outer rim of my tire while I was washing my car this past Saturday. Are these tires not covered under the warranty/maintenance fees? Am I going to have to shell out over $200 for a tire that has less than 1200 miles on it? Please help me out anyone. Thanks.

You have not only the MINI warranty, but the tire company should have a 1 year road hazard warranty. You should be covered no problem.

I called the dealership and they said the tire is not covered under warranty and that the manufacturer does not have a warranty and that I would have to pay for the tire. So I'm thinking I should just buy new wheels and tires if I have to replace a tire already. What do you think. Does anyone know any way around this. The tire only had less than 500 miles on it when I hit the pothole on the freeway. Please help.

painful but....

While this hurts, no, I don't feel you are being screwed.

A few years ago I left a dealership in my brand new ride and had a flat within 10 minutes. Changing the tire I found a big nail in the tire. I went back to the dealer and rasied hell. In retrospect....I was wrong. I hit a nail....not their problem....

The tires are not covered under the basic vehicle warranty on any car I've bought over the last 35 years, but R covered under the tire company warranty; and I've never bought a car where the tire warranty (from the tire maker) included 'road hazard' coverage.....just the standard miles coverage from 'defects'.

You hit a pot hole .... tire failure in that circumstance is not a defect.... it is a road hazard. You can argue with the tire company if you wish, but if you win, consider yourself very very lucky.

Sorry 'bout that mate.....

Different story if you bought a tire policy from the dealer....but with standard coverage...sorry

Actually more and more tires do have road hazard warranties. If you have Goodyear or Continental runflats they do have a 1 yr warranty. The Dunlops unfortunately do not.

Check out the warranties here .

Sorry man, but it looks like you are s**t outa luck.....

You might try contacting your homeowners insurance and see if they could cover it.

Why would they cover instead of my car insurance?

Is it really bad to keep driving on that tire that has a slight bulge? Could it last for a while longer?

Oops.....I meant your car insurance.......

The bulge indicates that the sidewall has been compromised, not a good thing. You could potentialy suffer a blow-out. The runflat would get you to safety tho.

No problem, I figured that was what you meant. Well, I'm just wondering if I should just go ahead and get wheels and tires now since I have to get a new tire anyway. Do you think anyone would buy my 17" crown spoke wheels and run-flats with 1200 miles on them, even with that one tire having a bulge? If so, how much do you think I could get for them since they are practically brand new.
