Hey Msteadman, the car looks great ! Look forward to some more shots from a different camara. I just really dig these wheels, I think I'm going to have to get a set but I think I will go with the Royal black. I've gone with a major black and white theme with my 05 S so the black is a must. They would replace my currant "2nd" set of rims which are 16" Rota Slipstreams that are Royal black. Again, like the look of your car and look forward to new pic's !

Hey Paulie, if you go with these please post some great pics like you did after putting on the aero kit. Looking at them myself. The black or gunmetal would be my only decision.

BTW, the grill should work as a spare, if ever needed but I should be getting my aero bumper shortly and can then try to fit the lower piece. Thanks again for that.

Thanks, pauliekeys! I also considered them in Royal Black as my MINI has an entirely black and white theme going on as well. However the gunmetal ties in quite well, I'm pleasantly surprised. As you can see, in all but the brightest light and closest angles, they actually appear black.

Anywho here's a couple new pics! Had my MINI tinted today and got the installer to snap a couple pics. Much better quality, but I apologize for the relatively low resolution.

What I'd REALLY like is a set that are flat black and have a polished silver lip. They make them in a flat black but the whole wheel is black. I like a little contrast although, I'd like to see a set up close. I've found with the Rota's, they really need to be seen in person to really judge the color. Flat black would be the bomb !

Has anyone checked out the Rota RB's in a 16", just saw they have them in the correct centerbore 56.1mm with a +40, looks like they're made just for the mini. (We have some really rough streets in Seattle, so I'm not sure 17's are the way to go)

keep posting the pictures I'm on the fence between the gunmetal & royal silver to go with our Lightning Blue/Black R56

I was at Mach V today and there's an RB 15x8ET35 app. I think I want a set for auto-x.

That'd be the perfect size for some nice autox rims

yep. they have lots of color choices...flat black, red/polished lip, black/polished lip, etc. I need to find out if they'll fit '07/JCW brakes though. It's a crapshoot for sure.

Yea, I saw that and it's my main problem with the flat blacks (not that even they're offered in a size for the MINI anyway). All black wheels aren't really me. Much prefer the machined/chrome lip to separate the dark color of the wheels from the tires. Without it sometimes looks like one's wheels were stolen or the hub caps fell off.
That said, the all black OZ UL's are a very good luck IMO. Even if a bit 'played out'.

Just to let you know, we have some really rough streets around here as well. That was my main reason for going with 17's when I was initially dead set on 18's. Ride with 215/45/17 relatively stiff tires is quite good, also it looks like enough rubber to offer pretty good protection.

I'm getting Eibach springs installed Monday morning, so I'll get some more pics posted then.

I'm probably going to go with the silver 16's, just as soon as I can find out if they're TPMS sensor compatible
& checked my Tirerack order on my Eibachs, must be on backorder, updated to March.8 :(

Sounds sweet! I know for a fact that the 17's are TPMS compatible, so I can't imagine that the 16's aren't. I picked up my Eibachs from JSC Speed and I believe they had a couple other sets in stock at the time. Might wanna check them out if you're getting impatient.

1) What about a 225/40/17 tire? I noticed that 225's are rarely discussed on Minis. Why?

2) Any chance the bore dimention has been corrected in recent runs?

3) Msteadman -- Any updates following the spring install?

It's a very rare size. There are only a couple of manufacturers that make it.

The MINI below belongs to a NAM member. I PMd the member to get info. with wheel size and tires, I haven't heard from him yet. If you guys know the owner or his wheel setup, pease provide wheel stats, very aggressive stance, look as if he is running 235s on 15x7 RBs.

If those are really 15x7...I don't think the tires are as wide as 235. That would look really bulged on a 15x7. My guess is that they're wide 205's or 215's

Great stance though...nice and wide

Your best bet is to contact the people at www.jlbmotorsports.com . They can get any color available and have also been known to offer custom colors made by rota just for them.

Great prices there too

Or, you could call 18racing.com and ask for Jessica, they have done a few group buys for Mini owners and actually initiated the 15x7.5 and 15x8's. Of course, I'm not biased at all with them being my sponsor and all. ;-)
