found the rattle, it was a cable for a radar detector, behind the mirror ,no longer used, tied it in a knot for now

I'm sure it's not recommended my BSH but it hasn't caused any issues on mine. Drll 2 holes on the horizon of the center of the lower bolt hole and 2 vertically....it helps a little on the sound & vibration. Also, NM is redesigning their inserts to include a stainless steel plate on either side of the bushings to stop them from squeezing out....they should be out shortly.

Installed the NM Torque Arm Insert over the weekend along with the Helix FMIC. Car runs and shifts great! My daily commute is 60 miles round trip and now have driven three days. Drives like a different car, great improvement

Definitely a big thumbs up! That FMIC is on my short list of ever growing mods! I know it's only been a few days but do you think it was worth the money?

I have the NM insert and I know how well my Coupe responded to it. Using "bang for the buck" as a factor I'd say it's probably the best mod I've done so far.

Well, that's a good question. I don't know where I'm going with future mods, but I think the FMIC would be part of the foundation of solid car if I choose to build from here. I'd like to buy the Accessport, but right now that's not in the budget. All I can say is right now the car is running great and some of it seems to be due to the FMIC.

Now that said, I want to measure the improvement in meaningful way. I have an account at www.Fuelly.com where I have tracked over 28k miles and I am averaging 31.7 mpg. I'm anxious to see what happens with my fuel mileage over the hot summer. My daily commute is 60 miles round trip with over 40 miles on I-476 outside Philly.

You can go to the Fuelly.com site and track my mileage, or better yet, track your mileage too. My account is the same name as here.

Haha, I realized after I wrote that that the question I posed was a bit premature. It was late. I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes down the road and I think it's a great mod when looking toward future power upgrades as you mentioned. That's my plan anyway.

THanks for the link. I'll have to check it out!

I did this last night along with the front bushing too. Its a snap to do the NM insert, the front bushing on the other hand... PITA. Had to setup a C-clap press to get it out. Minor vibration, but nothing too bad. No more missed 3rd while making lefts and accelerating hard!

So I got the "fix" from NM for the bushing coming out and after I tighten it down it barely touches the bushing defiantly does not push it back in or stop it from coming out, anyone else have this issue?

They originally had a slight issue with the drivers side bushing squishing out a little, but the metal plate that now comes with the bushings seems to hold it in IF you put a slight bend in the plate before you install it. Just installed mine, bent the plate about a 1/4" inwards, torque it down properly and it holds it perfect. Found the best prices at this new MINI Site....very cool:

I purchased and installed mine before NM updated the design with the support bracket. Mine has been installed for over 6 months without any issues. I did contact NM and they sent me the bracket at no charge. I don't see that backing out at all with the bracket on. Worthy upgrade!

Nearly a year for me. No support bracket. No problems. Even if they do bulge a bit it won't hurt anything since you haven't actually removed anything from the car by installing them. However the more solid the attachment the better the performance.

You're going to love the decrease in torque steer

I have a question. It seems one my driver side my torque arm insert may be loose. During cold driving or the car being unwarmed it seems to rattle when the road isn't smooth at all. I am guessing it might be the issue cause my shocks don't seem to be the issue. Ever since I did get my TAI put in it seems like that's been the issue for the last 10K. Just wondering if anyone else had this happen to them?

Did you do the install yourself? I did mine and it took like 15 minutes and I have had no problems what so ever.. wouldn't hurt to take the time to maybe just re-install it and make sure you have the right torque and all.

It's such an odd thing that people experience "rattling" The part I installed was just an insert to a factory made part and was semi squishy so I have now idea where any type of rattling would come from except perhaps improper install. or Maybe if you replaced the whole torque arm and it just wasnt the right size.

It's funny though. Everytime someone posts about the torque arm I get concerned and go check on mine and make sure its still under there lol.

Torque arm inserts

Just had NM engine torque arm inserts (sold/shipped by Way) installed this afternoon. Noticeable improvement in handling, shifting and throttle response.
An excellent, simple to install modification, especially considering the price.

Agreed! Just installed it this morning and I have to say, it's definitely an improvement.

I was skeptical before buying it but thought, "Oh, what the hell- it's 60 bucks." Best 60 dollars spent on the car.

I forgot to mention, I did my install on a 45 degree morning. I think that facilitated the install. I read about some of you guys having to use a mallet to force the arm back to its original position so I just wanted to bring that up now that the weather all around should be cooling down.

Yeah my brother got mine for me for Christmas. Best Christmas present ever. If you haven't already I'd look into the resonator delete

Already did! Have 2nd Cat and Resonator removed. I'm in the process of uploading for another user asking about the sound.

I'm new to the world of cars but I'm learning a ton thanks to you all! Cheers!

I (until recently) had the NM mount installed on my '10 R56 automatic, but took it out because of excessive vibration when at a stop. I had it on the car for well over a year, and I swear over time the vibrations slowly got worse, to the point my brain felt like it was rattling in my head. Not sure if the maybe the mount material stiffened/hardened over time (Arizona heat?), or perhaps the engine itself just vibrates more now.

Having removed the mount, I really do miss the benefits of having it installed, but I found myself eventually shifting into neutral at every. single. stop. I am thinking about trying the softer yellow Powerflex mount, but I'm wondering just how much less the vibration will be ... and if it turns out to still be too much, could the mount(s) be modified (drilled?) to find the perfect trade-off between performance and sanity?

A similar question has been posted in the Gen 1 forum regarding the Powerflex mount, but I put this here being I have a Gen 2.

I have an auto too. For the reason you explain is why I'm still hesitant doing this mod. Sure the car will torque steer less, but I just don't think I'm prepared to handle a constant vibration at idle. Was your vibration always at idle? Idle only or driving too?
