03 r53 Big noise near my feet

Hello, like 10 minutes ago a i tried to park my mini so my father could use his car.
After like 5 minutes on idle, a hard hitting sound comes on , was close to my feet at drivers seat, what could be that sound?
I immediatly shut off the car after 3-4 seconds of hearing the sound.
Guess engine blown up?
Edit:Checked out my car was out of coolant/water, guess. I found out that i got water through the exhausts when i rev, checked oils but oils are not white so no water inside them.
*Anyway, im more worried about that hard hitting sound i heard earlier near my feet before i immidiatly shut it off.

If you ran out of coolant you most likely warped your head and are now leaking coolant into exhaust. That’s your biggest worry I would say. You will need to address the loss of coolant issue before trying to diagnose other symptoms.

Did a few tries today. Heres what i came up to.
Yesterday, my car moslty ran out of coolant/water, when i opened the front "door" to see, water/and coolant was overflowing from the water head tank. Also to notice, after a 15-20 min driving, i did not have any high temperature but still when i stoped the car water still run out form the top of water tank. What do you think?
I checked my oils a couple of times and they are fine.No any sign of water isnide the oils.
Maybe thermostat stuck?

The weird thing in all that case is that , while that problem happened yesterday, while the the car was running on idle, a really heavy hard sitting sound came on near my right foot, it was like 4-5 hits in 3 seconds, a "hit" that i somewhat felt on my right foot and i immediatly turn of the car, never heard that sound again since yesterday that ive been trying to find out about the coolant problem

The strange sound you heard from the food well is likely cause by water hitting the red hot engine area because of severe overheating where the water happened to splash onto the surface. It is like heating a cast iron pan with nothing in it to red hot, and then splash it with a cup of water. The sudden creation of steam exploded in the closed cooling system which is connected to the cabin heater.

You better give immediate attention to the loss of coolant problem. Just because the temp gauge did not show overheating, does not mean you car is not overheating. Think where the temperature transducer is mounted. It can see no evil, hear no evil while the engine is melting down.

If you lost a piston you would know it because the engine would have probably quit or run so poorly you couldn’t mistake it. I wouldn’t run your vehicle anymore until you fix the coolant issue.

Yeah im not running my mini at all when i occur a problem, im not that risky with things like this.
Anyway, i already ordered a new cooling tank and waiting to try this thing first. Iv seen many people having the same issue due to coolant tank's age. Having coolant come off the top of the coolant tank
Got a question, is the tank's replacement an easy to do job? or i better go my car to a mechanic and do that job for me?
Also i hope i didnt do any harm to my engine or to my head gasket, still cant see any whiteish inside oils.

You may want to inspect the water pump as well. Not sure if you have an R50 or R53 so let us know. R50 looks to be an easier replacement. R53 is more involved since it is attached and driven off supercharger.

If it seizes, it can make a lot of noise. The pump that seized on my kid's car was so bad...how bad was it? It actually caused the motor to stall out at idle.

I got the R53, 2003 model, Anyway first im gonna try the coolant tank and will see after that.
Do you suggest to reflush all coolant if i change just the tank?

Also, After the try i did to figure out i was having that problem, i saw plenty of water and brownish liquid under the car and also in the aluminium protector thing under that tank, that brownish looks like rust or something.

You should not need to flush entire cooling system if just replacing the tank.

Make le sure you get a new coolant cap too. They can go bad too.

Can you upload a pic of what you are seeing? Brown liquid is not a normal fluid color.

Yeah i ordered a Oem one, both the cap and the tank.
Now, that brownish thing looks like rust to me, i checked the coolant tank now and the coolant is green. But the last day i used it and had the overflow, i guess that brownish thing came from there. It also left a stain at the ground.

The tank doesn’t look like it is split, but can’t tell everything from a photo. It could just be the cap that is bad, but doesn’t hurt to replace the tank since they do fail. I would flush the system if it has t been done before or for a long time. It’s a good maintenance step.

Tried something today, while i start the car and for like 10 mins the water stays "idle" inside the tank, when the temp goes at half, and when i rev i see water coming from top tank, boiling, almost lost all coolant, the tank was somewhat empty after that. Got a few pics

Either your thermostat is stuck and/or your leaking exhaust gas into the coolant. Link to instructions on replacement. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...rmostat-430896

Afterwards definitely flush and refill the system. Your coolant is very dirty.

If you are idling the motor with the cap off, the water will boil at 100C. The cap keeps a higher pressure in the system thereby allowing the boiling point to also rise.

Keep the cap on whenever you are checking for leaks while the engine is running. If think air is trapped, there are two bleed points. One by thermostat and the other is on to top radiator hose.

Tried with cap off after i already saw a few leaks from the cap of the tank, not from anywhere else, so i guess the cap is faulty for sure or anything else that has to do with boiling the water and making it overflow from tank cap.
Im still waiting for the coolant tank with cap to come.
Dammit those holidays, always having a problem with my cooper on holidays ....

Tried new cap and a reflush on the system.
Looks like the problem is solved. Already did a 20khm drive and had no water off the tank.
