Thoughts on this Cooper S

Going to look at this car today for my wife and want to know any thoughts or suggestions you can share. It has the works package and I talked them down on price.

I can't tell you much about the car, but I can vouch for Isringhausen as a dealership. I'm from Springfield originally, and they have a very good reputation. My mom and step-dad have purchased their last three cars there, and are looking at a fourth, and most of their repeat business is based on how well the dealership has treated them. They can be a little "proud" of their cars on occasion, as is reflected in their asking prices, but they seem to only get the nicest of the nice.

Best of luck on the purchase. You should bring it out on Saturday if you get it!

FYI, looks like it's got just the JCW motor package and not the Brake or Suspension, but double check to see if the springs are RED or not to be sure. Looks like a nice MINI from here

At 43K the brakes may have already been done, see if you can get any service records, if they have not been done they will need it within 15K.

You were right about the dealer. First class all the way. I arranged everything ahead of time because its a 2hr drive from STL. Drove the car, loved it and we were out of there in 30 minutes. I looked at the service records and the brakes were done last year. Only thing I worry about is the clutch which I have read tends to go out often. Its a one owner car with extensive records so that helps. My wife loved the 2hr ride home in it, as its her car I had to follow in the crappy Audi. I look forward to meeting some of you guys as I have been heavily involved in the vw scene here for awile and dont know much about the mini's.

I'd love to go but am already roped into helping my brother in law move. I'll go to the next gtg. Do you suggest I get an extended warranty? I normally dont because I dont get my money back on them but thinking twice about that with this car.

This is without doubt the funnest car I have ever owned and wouldn't do it any differently but at the same time they are not Honda's that go forever on a oil change every 4K-5K Miles. They do need the occasional tweak if not downright repair. Mine being still under the 3yr/4yr warranty it comes in handy.

If you could get a MINI ext warranty it might be worth looking at if it's wasn't too outrageous. Talk to the folks at St. Louis MINI they are a good crew

I have never exp'd third party ext warranty's but the drift I get from some posts is they are a PITA. I could be wrong

I sent the STL Mini store an email and they are going to have the finance manager call me back. I'd rather not get a generic extended warranty as they have never paid for themselves or they dont cover squat.

If STL MINI will give you an extended maintenance package, you will get your moneys worth with that. We went that route rather than the extended warranty when we got our Clubman.
