Naaa, just about 1/2 mile of road test. I'm actually gunna loose these tires as they are gettin on over a year old. Kinda a waste, but they will be good for testing.

thats a huge spoiler. its like 4 feet long! and it even needs a 2/4 to hlp support it from the top, and a big pipe to hold it up from the bottom. You know your supposed to keep the front wheels on the ground, not have so much downforce in the back that as soon as you start to move it picks up the front. hahah. It sure does look hot tho. Im sure you will have a blast with it, and i hope i can see it in person one day. It looks very origional mini-ish for some reason, the new angles i guess, but i love it. and hey, merry christmas man.

Thanks Beecher
The rear wing will be a test as most of the car will. There is actually quite a bit of downforce with the splitter as it extends under the motor and ends at the front axles. Shaped underneath like a diffuser.
There will also be a rear diffuser which will give me the majority of the rear downforce. The wing is more to reduce drag by cleaning air flow. Again, it's all theory now, the test days will tell the results.
Merry Christmas to you also.

It's been a while since I've been to NAM...

Nice to see it almost done Greg! I find it amusing how some can criticize you for how long it has taken or how much $ you have probably spent... as if it was their time and money you somehow took

Sure you could have built something that would have been completed sooner. You are building what YOU want, and the thought and detail that has gone into this car is impressive. I don't recall another MINI race car build thread, so I've always been thankful for your sharing with us... I suppose in doing so though, you open yourself up to those who wish to degrade your efforts and/or results.

I hope you will continue to share, if not here, somwhere else, or with me personally. Take care.

Thanks Tony. It's really nice to hear from you.
And yea, you seem to have been a stranger here. I know you've been through a lot lately. Great sign to see you back here.

What's under the duct work. I posted this pic on another thread so I figured I'd add it to the collection.

don't worry, everytime she comes out of her regional forum she's trying to stir flames. She laughs about it on the nuts website.
You can read about it on Onasled's fansite link that he posted. She's harmless even if she talks dirty.

Hey Kelly, ... please, don't turn this thread into a mess, K? If you want to discuss the car then let's do so, but try not to take this down a path to no where.
Thanks.

haha, yeah, the splitter is big to, but i was reffering to what ever is in the background in that first pick that looks like a huge curved spoiler comming off the roof, and the pipe standing up in the corner of the shop that looks like its part of the roll cage supporting the spoiler, and it looks like the 2x4 is holding it up as well. Just busting your chops a bit.

I tried pming you, and now i see your sig, but i will just post here anyway. Again, keep up the good work, and i know what your going threw. I bought a 1940 ford coupe almost 7 years ago, and only drove it earlier this year. I have about 45k invested in it, and it has no paint or interior. I get to hear the same things you do about how long it is taking, and who dumb you are for wasting your money. "if you put a small block chevy in there, you would have had more horsepower cheaper, and it would have been done by now" is what i usualy hear. It has a ford flathead in it by the way. People who cant always try to drag down those who can or will. It the way it goes anymore. Dont listen to those morons. I especially like who their street cars are going to out run your race car. Thats killer. hahah. I get to hear the same thing with my mini as well, cause im going for 200hp normally aspirated. I get some weird looks and comments. Which is why i say some people say i should be commited every once and awhile around this forum.

Just out of curiosity, what are the squared off front fenders for? Rad air outlet? I seem to recall the oil cooler being mounted behind the seats, so i assume those (what i assume are) outlets must be for something else, but what????

thanks

Beecher

Thanks Beecher.
The "Theory" is to evacuate all the air I can from the under the hood and to keep it out from under the car with the exception of the needed amount to enhance the rear diffuser. Inner wells are re-shaped to help this process and the fenders are open at the back to let the air flow out, actually 'pull' the air out from the front of the car
I'll take some more close us of this area and post'm.

Glad you came back, this is exciting beautiful stuff. I'm looking forward to some on-track video, but it's gonna be a long wait until spring!
