R59 Decision Time
My wife and I are in agreement that our second MINI (Betty is going to have a sibling) is going to be ordered soon. It will be a Roadster!!! The only disagreement is whether to get the base or S. I want the S but she does not like the sport suspension. Says the ride is too harsh and it feels like a rocket ready to take off. How do I soften the ride? Can the S be ordered with the Base suspension or do we move away from run flats?
My daily commuter is going to be my CM. Roadster is going to be our "weekend" MINI. Wife is going to be the primary passenger. She gave up driving 4+ years ago (vision issues) . Gotta keep her happy!!!! Don't want her to not enjoy the ride. Happy wife happy life!!!!!
Just need to soften the ride.

Go for the S without sport suspension and switch out the shock to Koni FSD.
I'm not sure if 15" wheel will clear the front brake. Can anyone advise or know if 15" wheel will fit on the S

If you go with the S or even the base model, you should consider either installing non-run flat tires (get a portable air compressor) and/or Koni shocks. The ride in the S is slightly firmer than the base model because of the lower profile tires.
I'd go for the S. We have the S in the Countryman and love it.
My theory is that one should get the best options one can get in case the car ever goes up for resale. People often love buying used cars that have the bells and whistles. (Not talking tuners or gear heads, necessarily)
I would replace the runflats first thing. Dealer might even be able to do it for you. To me the runflats feel like what the Flinstones car must have felt like with stone wheels.

I drove a couple roadster S with sport suspension added on. It's pretty common actually it seems. See if you cant drive an S without the addon, or a justa without it and that will straighten you out.
I didn't do the sport suspension on my S and it's pretty good. I may still ditch the runflats, as the 17" wheels I got, while gorgeous, product a lot of road noise with them. The big bummer is the runflats already saved my butt once. I picked up a nail (lots of new houses going in my newer neighborhood) and was totally flat one morning. Was able to drive to Sears to get it fixed.

Love my JUSTA, its my daily commuter (108 miles round trip). its also great for long pleasure cruises. to us it was either the justa or the jcw. never really considered the s. after a long conversation with my dad (mechanic over 60 years) i heeded his advise " how often will you be participating in track days?" went with reliability and comfort. as for the run flats they saved me once already from being stranded at 2am with temps well below freezing.
