Fog lights OEM? '12 JCW R58

After a 2 month rebuild, got car back together and figure lights aren't working. Toggle shows lights on dash, went to check bulb land I don't see a bulb. It's a 6 wire plug that connects each fog. There appears to be a halo DRL on them too that doesn't work, bit oddly did with blinker (figure that one out). I've checked power wire to the black box under hood that looks like a ballast and has mini logo on it. Box is grounded as well, someone it has + & - to it.

Do you think previous owner swapped fog lights from a different MC?

What is box on fire wall under hood switch?

Ballast wedged next to strut tower and fuse box.

Is this a R58 factory fog controller?

I think someone swapped LED fogs into it over its life.

@ECS Tuning You are spot on. I have this retrofit kit installed on my 2012 R56 MCS and module box looks exactly the same.@MiniConn I would check wiring. There is one wire that should go through firewall into cabin and connect to FRM. Also, if IIRC I had to do some programming to get rid of strobing on start. Search for "MINI LED DRL retrofit kit" (or something like this) and you should find a few threads discussing installation details here.

Awesome thank you everyone for the information, at least this gives me a direction to figure out what I'm working with. So there should be a signal wire tap somewhere if I'm understanding correctly? Something must have gotten bumped or disconnected when front end and motor/Trans was removed.

Just did a search on my Mac and found installation PDF for this kit. This should give you an idea how it should've been installed and what's missing in your case.

Oh my gosh thank you! I'm off to a meeting so haven't been able to look into this yet! Really appreciate it.

Any chance you can help with my "ticking" thread too? 🤣🤣🤣

Yep its was in one of the threads also.

You can only get some of the parts from that old retrofit NLA kit. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...45#63122348832

The light itself.

The lights work because we discovered they were both flashing with the blinker (thanks to seeing our reflection in the car ahead of us. 🤣 ). Just gotta track down the issue now. Gotta love other people's DIY's!

Oh and please disregard my comment about coding. I just realized I have confused this with MINI Xenon headlights retrofit kit installation. That one required some coding. LED DRLs kit worked out of the box - no coding required.

Just in case though - check that inline fuse for DRLs is good. I had that fuse blown in the past. Literally blown. Even the holder was damaged and I had to install completely new inline fuse with holder. This thread has some pictures: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d-drl-kit.html
