JCW exhaust 18302293431

Hi

I have a R58 Cooper S and are interested in a JCW exhaust (18302293431)!
Can anyone explain if the sound will be more sporty or is it just a visual upgrade??

It's a factory JCW exhaust I'm interested in! Just want to have some opinion if this is a good buy, or just waisted money versus standard Cooper S exhauste??

It will change the sound, but it's not a huge change. Hopefully someone can post a clip if they have only installed that muffler.

We have some JCW exhaust avail too.

The Invidia Q300 exhaust with resonator delete on it has a deep dirty sound to it.
My friend has that on his JCW R56.

I have the same exhaust on my R58 but left the resonator and have catless downpipe. Has a deep but not as rough sound with the resonator still on.

The Invidia runs about $650

It has definitely a more "baritone" and deeper sound at idle as well as on the road and it is even improving with time. It is not loud and just right for me.

I agree with dube. It's a deeper tone, the pops are louder and more noticeable, and there is little to no drone. It's not a huge change, but noticeable and I'm happy. I'm not sure if it's just me, but it also seemed louder after about a month

What is the difference between factory JCW exhaust and the retrofit JCW exhaust?

I think quite a difference. My fJCW exhaust has a bit more pop/burble than my 2007 MCS but it's not loud at all. The retrofit is supposedly louder. The F56 retrofit has a remote that opens it even more.

18302293431 shows a euro LCI Tuning kit exhaust system. The one with separate tips.

I am confused. There is a different "tuning kit exhaust" as opposed to the factory one that I could buy for my 2014 R58? The clip of the tuning on you have posted sounds waaay different than factory and much better IMO.

No. If you have an R58 MCS and want to improve it you have to buy the JCW Tuning kit. That consists of an ECU tune (installed by the dealer) and the JCW exhaust shown on the top (the better one) which the dealer can also install, or you can. The factory JCW car (like my 2014 R58) basically has the standard exhaust that your MCS has. What is also has is the bodykit, Brembo brakes, bigger turbocharger, and upgraded pistons (and badging, steering wheel, etc.).

If you have a R58 fJCW then you have already have factory JCW solid tip pipes and resonator.

Well, I know that, but is there something different I am missing? You can add something different with a tuning kit? I don't know, that one clip sounded better than my car.

If you already have a JCW, you already paid to have the upgrade performance option and even more that provides 208 hp instead of 181 hp for the stock MCS engine.

The tuning kit is for the MCS and provides only 192 hp.

As far as I know and have been told, the JCW engine has stronger pistons but also an improved cylinder head, a bigger turbo, different ECU settings and a lower restriction exhaust. The latter is not the same as the MCS stock engine.

The easiest way to improve performance on a JCW without spending thousands is to install a JB+. You will add about 15-20 hp depending on how it will be set and you will see a noticeable improvement.

The engine pulls a lot stronger in the 3500-5500 rpm range and I am very happy.
