JCW Exhaust/Tune on a JCW

For some indiscernible reason the JCW car does not come with the valved exhaust that the JCW exhaust/tune option for the Cooper/Cooper S has. So the question is: does the tune part of the option get you a HP bump (can it be installed in a JCW) or do all you really get with the purchase is the valved exhaust when purchasing for a JCW?

Papa - I've seen several reviews of the JCW that have that on the test car. I admit it is confusing...

I want the valved exhaust and if I can get the software part of it installed - all the better. Still don't understand why the JCW doesn't come with the "JCW exhaust!" I'm sure all those drugs I did in the 60's & 70's have something to do with my confusion.

My baby exited the birth canal on August 7th, so now she just needs to hitch a ride to the New World!

Check some websites in europe and uk, they sell exhaust without tune.I would check pipe diameter first before pulling trigger.

I'd like that exhaust too. Hoping that at some point they make a tune for the JCW, at which point I'm in. To me, not worth it for just some extra sound.

Have you ever been able to get a JCW tune for a JCW in the past?

Just speculation. The F56 Cooper S gets the exhaust and a calibration update that nets more power. Has that happened with any earlier models?
I think there's room for more power with the 2 liter engine. We'll see.

The issue would be different with the JCW. It is as stated before putting the power on the road. 205 tires and 230HP is getting close to a limit. I'm not saying that most on this forum could not drive with another 30HP....but for the general public that is a lot of power for a FWD and could be considered unsafe IMHO.

My understanding is JCW buyers are paying mostly 8K over an S for a factory tuned engine and other bits already part of the package. They have the JCW exhaust that come with the performance engine.

What are you expecting to get better?

From what I have learned you won't be using the tune on the JCW, just the hard parts of the exhaust.

Since your in AL run over to Atlanta and we can get you the JCW kit and install it for you in our shop.

What you can do is get the complete tune kit and then sell the tune file card and any other badges and stuff from the kit to recoupe as much as you can from the kit to make the exhaust cheaper.
