R58 wanting to install LSD in JCW coupe???
wanting to install LSD in JCW coupe???
Hi everyone,
I have a 2012 JCW coupe. It has the Electronic locking diff (EDLC)... I am a fairly avid track driver and was wanting to install an LSD. Just wondering is there anyway to disable the Electronic diff and install an LSD without throwing codes?
Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Not sure, but I would think that if the installed LSD is preventing wheelslip,
then the EDLC won't be called upon to do its job, at least until you get to
the point where you overcome the mechanical LSD's capabilities.

Hey Cristo,
Thanks for the reply. That does make sense and I'm guessing that with the LSD, the point of slippage would be far greater therefore leaving EDLC to come in very late... but is there anyway to tune/flash it out altogether without interfering with the other stability control programs?

Maybe RMW (Revolution Mini Works) knows?
It looks like, outmotoring, way motor works, and others sell these too. I'm sure they could answer all of your questions.

Spoke to Jan from Revolution Mini Works today on the advice of fjork_duf
I was told that an LSD can be installed the same as any other diff in a mini. The EDLC will continue to work however it will not be as prominent as it is without an LSD due to the slippage point changing.
Apparently the DTC system can also be tuned to lower the friction point of the braking in the EDLC however I don't fully understand this and have emailed a request for more info.

We've got a Quaife in our car that sees lots and lots and lots of auto-x runs. Since putting it in the EDLC is pretty much non-functional. The Quaife stops wheel spin before the EDLC intervenes. If you sufficiently unload a front tire (bouncing off curbs for example) the Quaife will function as an open diff and then the EDLC will try to reign it in.
