Okay the queen has spoken....owners and fans of Oxygen Blue are welcome here!!!
BTW, I drove by the dealership yesterday (Moritz, Arlington) and was shocked to see two OBs on the lot!!! One was OB/W, one was OB/B!!! I think I shall drop by and check them out...previously that would have been quite a rare sight, but then again it was only a matter of time for OB to catch on for dealer spec!!

Scratch that!!!
I had my first Oxygen Blue sighting in the wild a few minutes ago...apparently a lady snatched-up the OB/B!!! Looks cool!!!

I will say, at my local hangout (Estella's) I've actually seen four R56s (including UJs)...that is amazing considering how relatively new the model is!!!

just ordered my oxygen blue
I just ordered 7/06/07 my new oxygen blue mini with black roof and black stripes. I am getting the automatic .Now I am doubting myself thinking this is a mistake and worrying that the engine is not going to be good. It did seem a little louder then my 2004 mini when I took it for a test drive. I just feel I should not of purchased a first year new engine. Can anyone make me feel better? I guess I could of got another car (was looking at the mazda 3)if I am that worried but I LOVE MY MINI.
Today I'm torn.
One one hand, my side stripes look great.:
On the other hand, my boot stripes are still not on. (try #2):
I'm now trying to decide if I have a dealer do them, another 3rd party, or if I say to h**l with it and leave it as is.....
Anyway.... Here be the newest edition to Darby:

I'll probably end up putting the boot stripes on, I think it just adds a finished look to her. That, and I'm a glutton for punishment:
Hopefully, the new grill will be in next week, then I'm going to black out the waist line, and fill in a little ding on the bumper (don't get me started
)

You Won't Regret Your Purchase-Further Road Trip Update in OB

Today we drove from St Louis to Lexington, KY. My love affair continues. My bro and I did some spirited driving in the cornfields (within breakin parameters
), and I averaged 32mpg on that tank. On this trip so far, we've averaged 34.5mpg. Not even broken in, cruising around 80mph, and doing plenty of sport mode manual fun runs. Just an FYI: the tire pressure indicators (or whatever it's called...I am pretty fried right now) DO work. Somehow I have a slow leak in my rear passenger tire. The indicator went off in OK Tuesday, and the tire had 22 psi. Today it went off again. 22 psi after topping her off Tuesday. I'll just take her in to S and S tires here in Lexington this weekend to see where the leak is. Makes me wonder how often my other cars have had tire pressure problems I didn't catch right away.
Later, alligators
I had my first "Oh my god, I want a MINI and I want THAT color!!" encounter this evening. Went to Estella's (my hang-out spot)...parked in one of five acceptable, ding-free, MINIlicious parking spots and a guy runs up exclaiming his sudden fixation w/ Oxygen Blue...and MINIs in general. Pretty cool...we talked for a bit.
Excellent!!!! Baby is lookin' good!!!
(btw, you don't live in Texas do you? I saw a proud new owner leave Moritz yesterday in an OB/B and it's gonna drive me nuts keeping a lookout for it!!!)

Mini Delivery At Last
Last Monday my wife and I picked up her new OB/OB MC in Las Vegas - we stayed for 3 days to get black sport stripes and sunroof tinting put on, and also added the 3M "ClearBra" protection. Then we motored over the mountains to Bishop, CA, for the first leg of our return to Oregon where we are spending the summer. What a perfect drive for a perfect car!!!! Minis are made for mountains and my only regret was having to let my wife drive half of the time. It was a real struggle keeping the tach below 4500 rpm.
My wife wanted the Auto and I worried that I wouldn't like it, but all you have to do is push the "Sport" button, put it in manual mode, and then take off!! Just as much fun as messing with a clutch and just as much performance.
The next two days we continued the trip up the back side of the Sierra mountains, finally arriving on the coast of Oregon last night. Total mileage for the trip was almost exactly 1200 miles, and what a great way to break in a new MC.
First things first, after unpacking our bags & our dog, we took the new MC to the local do it yourself car wash & removed all bugs, road grime and other offending debris from the beautiful paint, vacuumed the interior and then when all was right with the MC, we drove her to the local seafood restaurant right on the ocean. A setting sun with our OB beauty sitting there next to sand and sea was as pretty a sight as I have ever seen.
Today I thoroughly clean her again, take some pictures and I will put one or more on this forum to share with all.

PS - At the dealer in Las Vegas there was one other OB but not with the Tuscan Beige interior. I don't recall if I have seen any postings of any other light color interiors but I have to say it is a terrific color combination. Also only spotted one MC on our entire trip back to OR!

jedorme, I was wondering when you'd give us an update
AWESOME!
I truly second your impressions of the automatic transmission. I've been driving Tawanda (Kathy Bates, Fried Green Tomatoes) around the Lexington horse country twisty back roads, and in sport with manual, I haven't experienced a smoother, more sophisticated transmission. My hardest decision with buying another MINI, the R56, was whether to go with the new automatic or stay with the manual 6 speed. (Of course, OB was the final influencer.........here today, gone tomorrow with this little choice juicy color punch
) I test drove both, and was convinced the auto was the way to go given all of the options we have to drive. The 6 speed manual was just amazing, but I know darned well that I would not want to take off from a standstill on the killer hills in Tacoma and Seattle, even with the new hill assist feature with DSC. I did puss out, and I'm glad I did. What's even pussier is that I like to have my latte in the morning, and shifting gets in the way. That is just sick and wrong, but isn't it great MINIs give us so many choices to drive how we want. They are all delicious.
I love the ability to put her in automatic on the freeways, and then play with the manual around town and on country roads for some sporty zip. Yet, she's plenty sporty in automatic.
Yep, it's been tough keeping her under 4500 rpm, but I've been a good girl and only once so far did I push her up to 5500 rpm. It comes on so quickly
Weather here is in mid 90s today, and the auto air cools the car down in no time flat
I put some Shell 93 in her this morning, and hand calculated 34.5 mpg. She is 30 miles under break in, and according to the OBC, she has averaged 34.3 the past 1170 miles. I'd say that is spot on...receipts are in the car. You should see the locals mouths drop when they ask what the mileage is. They think because she is so zippy and sporty that she must chug the go juice
jedorme, I love hearing how she did in the mountains. We haven't hit the mountains yet. I've been plotting my Dragon run on the map, and some good Smokey roads. I expect to have her in manual sport mode the entire way.
Hope to also get some snaps today and get them posted. This horse country is breathtakingly beautiful. It's my first time here, and the history just surrounds the area. We toured Ashford Reserve (Kentucky bourbon
) yesterday. How exciting to see old traditions carried on in a lovingly restored distillery.
A road trip of a lifetime! Oh, I have to impress mommashine by taking a pic of my new keychain. It's got all of the colors of Tawanda in stripes on a horse's head: OB, cream, oak, and black. I do find myself accessorizing. Went to Target this am and bought an aqua water absorber (forgot the name..the old stand by tube water absorber...love those things) to match her.
Time to motor to Shaker Village!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday is the first time I saw the OB in person and I have to say I likes....it's a really nice color. I saw it with a white roof, but I'm totally partial to black..I want to see one in black roof now!
Thanks for the pics folks....awesome color!

Okay, hold on there just a minute, missy!!! Did you just call your Oxygen Blue MINI as "little choice juicy color punch??"
That is brilliant...can I quote you?!?!
