R56 What Did You Drive Before Your R56?
Ok, since others are listing everything they've owned, I'll do the same:
1965 Mustang 289 v8 (which I still have).
1999 Ford Escort ZX/2 (Lease)
1999 Pontiac Grand AM (Inherited this from the then wife on my lease turn in - had it only about 3 months before I traded - I HATED that car!)

2000 BMW 323i
2005 MCS PW/B
2009 MC Lightning Blue/W
2012 MCS PW/B

2006 Honda Element 4WD EX-P, the most reliable car I have ever owned. Six years and not a single repair. Only fluids, filters and wear items. Only went to the dealer for the first free oil change and never went back.
Hoping the MCa experience will be the same, but Mini has insured a 3 year relationship with their included 3 year maintenance program.
Hoping the mechanics there know what they are doing and don't start trying to disconnect electrical connectors by yanking on the wiring without releasing the connector locks! (Like a certain VW dealer did and created a 2 year ECL problem that was ultimately diagnoised as such by returning to the dealer I bought the car at hundreds of miles away...).

I like to swap cars every year or so... since 2006 I have bought and sold the following:
2003 BMW M3
2007 Toyota Prius
2007 Buell 1200cc Bike
2006 BMW 325i Sedan
2005 Acura TL
2005 Infiniti FX35

Im the complete opposite of Rudeboim, I had a 1983 Chevrolet Camaro for 12 yrs and 307,000 miles and my 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix STE 5 speed (1 of 57 built) 15 yrs now and still counting, and 181,000 miles. I traded an 07 Pathfinder for my 08 Clubbie.

2. 1990 Civic hatch (killed by hurricane ike)
3. another 1990 civic hatch
4. 2006 Silverado W/T, RCSB( killed by a drunk while I was asleep)
6. 06 r53
oh wait this is what did you drive before your R56.... oh well

My first car was a 1999 bmw 5 series with m5 rims and bodykit and i crash on it, then I had Mini Cooper r53 2005 charcoal grey with alta pulley 19%,act clutch, unichip, magnflow exhaust and i sell it... now
1993 Ford Explorer Sport - Wrecked it once - fixed it with my dad - Sister wrecked it again after I bought the Taurus - fixed it with my dad - She drove it for another 2 years until the clutch gave out, and the cost of the clutch would have been more than the Exploder was worth.
2001 Ford Taurus SES - I'd never seen a transmission bleed out before... LOL Got to see that happen twice...
And about 8 months ago bought my 2007 Lightning Blue / Black MCS

I had a 1993 Dodge Stealth ES then moved on in 2009 to a MINI Cooper non-S. And now I have a 2011 MINI Cooper S, and I am never going back to American cars, unless its just my future Mustang when I get older!
since 2006 ive went through
2003 bmw m3
2008 bmw m3
current cars
2007 toyota tacoma
2008 bmw 528i
2011 mcs
i really miss my 2008 m3 that got totaled
had to invest more money to expand my business and also went through bankrupcy so my credit is not helping me get the m3, so i bought the mcs for cash.

I did similarly to Dwdyer, I have a 1994 Toyota 4 Runner 4x4 pickup that I still use for the winter months. The 2006 Mini Cooper S is my Fun Weekend Road Ripping Car! Pardon me while I go install my Strut Tower Defenders...
Let's see if I can remember them all...
'69 VW Beetle
'69 Datsun 510
'70 VW Beetle
'73 Datsun 240Z
'77 Datsun "Li'l Hustler" pickup (first new vehicle - $3200!)
'78 Datsun 280Z
'80 Honda Accord LX
'83 VW Rabbit GTI (one of the very first sold in the USA)
'85 Golf GTI
'88 Acura Integra LS SE
'93 Nissan Sentra SE-R
'93 Nissan 300ZX
'97 VW GTI VR6
'86.5 VW Scirocco 16V (featured in March 2005 issue of european car)
'99 VW GTI GLX
'00 VW Passat 1.8T
'02 VW GTI 337
'04 VW Golf .:R32
'06 BMW 330i
'07 BMW Z4 M Coupe (still own)
'10 Mini MCS (ditto)
Some definite patterns here. You can trace my GTI, Datsun 510 & Sentra SE-R heritage directly to my MCS, and my Datsun/Nissan Z-car fetish directly to my M Coupe. Apparently my taste in cars hasn't changed a whole lot in 37 years of driving. Only 2 of 20 are 4-door sedans. And not a single automatic in the entire lot.

here's my list and it's kind of embarrasing...
1 - 85 camaro
2 - 93 beretta (door handles fell off - anyone else have this happen???)
3 - 95 - Z28
4 - 98 - Z24 (lemon - no suprise there)
5 - 00 - MR2 spyder
6 - 03 - S2000
7 - 04 - Civic
8 - 09 - 335 (2nd lemon)
9 - 11 -x5 5.0
10 - 12 JCW
By far the coolest and most useful vehicle was the X5, but holy gas guzller batman. I love my mini and will continue to buy them. Lots of bang for very few bucks...

That's a good question. That list is about as vanilla as one can get. Nothing wrong with being frugal, cautious and safe though. Of course, I looked at your profile and it really all fits together, even the choice of a Justa over an MCS or JCW. Some once said something to the effect, it's not about how fast you get there, but about enjoying the journey. I expect you have enjoyed the journey more than others.
