R56 What Did You Drive Before Your R56?
From 16 years old to present:
1985 4cyl mustang
1985 5.0l mustang gt
1995 honda civic ex (vtec)
2002 ford f150 5.4l
2002 ford focus 4door
2002 ford lightning (which I miss dearly, loved the whine from the big eaton blower)
1999 ford windstar (still have it to haul the kids)
1993 ford mustang lx bored, stroked, and running consistant 11's on the motor (I miss the 500lb/ft of torque to the ground!)
2004 ford ranger 4x4 4.0l (which I traded for the MINI)
and now the 2007 MINI Cooper S in MY/blk without the bonnet stripes
As you can tell, I've been a ford guy mostly by default. I don't miss driving one though and probably won't buy one again for quite some time.

1. 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lorado
2. 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokeer Special Edition, this one got outfitted with a Pioneer headunit, a pair of audiobahn 10" subs and a soundlab amp to supplement the Infinity system that came in the car, as well as a K&N intake
3. 2005 Mazda6 S (3.0L V6) that ended up getting fairly heavily modded for autocross usage
Engine: MSDS short tube ss headers, Magnaflow 2.25" ss catback exhaust, AEM CAI, ECT (electronic throttle controller)
Suspension: Mazdaspeed lowering springs (dropped the car 1.25" in the front and 1" in the rear, gave a 30% increase in stiffness over stock and were linear), Bilstein HD shocks, Racingbeat 29mm front swaybar, 27.5mm rear sway bar, AWR adjustable endlinks, and I swapped out the springs and Bilsteins for a set of Tein SS Coilovers literally the day before she died so unfortunately I never got to enjoy those.
Wheels & Tires: Autocross= 17x7.5" Enkei RPF-1's with 225/45 Bridgestone RE01-R's (limited in size by scca regulations for my class), Street = 18x7.5" ASA AR1's with 225/45 Dunlop SP Sport Signatures
Appearance: Smoked LED side markers and rear reflectors, and a 55watt 4500K HID kit ...and that's about it. At one point I also had installed a Buddyclub Racespec 1pc racing seat (awesome grip for the track but akward to get in and out of day to day).

Hmm my car history...
1991 Geo Prizm sedan - piece of crap but it ran well
2000 VW Golf 2dr - Had the terrible 2.slow and an auto
2002 VW GTI 1.8T - Great car, cant say enough about this car! Full Stage 1 from APR, F/R sway bars and HR coilovers.
2008 VW GTI - Another great GTI. DSG was great to drive and the 2.0T was phenomenal!
I still love VW as a brand but just couldn't get my lease payments down where I wanted them...

Last car was a 2008 Saturn Sky Redline. RWD, 260hp, convertible. Loved it but with Saturn going out of business and as many problems as the car had had over the time I'd had it, it was time for something else.
I traded a 2010 Mustang GT for the MINI. It was the 3rd Mustang I'd had in a row for a "weekend toy", and with gas prices soaring again I decided that I wanted something both fun and economical. I also have a 2010 Xterra 4x4 that is required in the winter up here where I live, but it gets 15mpg.
1. 1987 Ford Mustang LX 2.3L - Slow but took high school driving abuse, t-tops were fun but leaked in a hard rain
2. 1993 Mazda MX-6 V6 - Awesome car, put 100k on it before selling to move across country
3. 1967 Sunbeam Minx - Fun car to bump around town in, leaked oil but ran great
4. 1964 Lincoln Continental - LOVED this car, always wanted one. Wish I had kept her, but forced to sell at the time
5. 1975 AMC Pacer X - Another car I should have kept, LOL. Holley 4 barrel carb, Hooker header, Flowmaster exhaust, 2" lift in the back, sounded like a truck
6. 1998 Mercedes E320 - Looked great, drove great, but with quality/build issues. When things started breaking, it was time to sell
7. 2004 VW R32 - Awesome... car... Traded in to get the wife an SUV when our son was born, should have found a way to keep the .:R
8. 2006 Kia Rio LX - Grocery getter / commuter. More fun than it had any right to be, unbelievably reliable, but no soul
9. 2008 MINI Cooper S - What's to say that we do not all know? So much fun that I forget about the potential hiccups whenever I pull out of my driveway

This is fun...
- 1972 Plymouth Satellite (hand me down) - that was a beast!

1998 Ford f150 stepside with a vortex super charger. Chipped and dyno'd. lowered eibach springs on momo 18's. 32 lb fuel injectors hooker stubby headers with a borla 4" cat back exhaust. IT was a lighting killer!! sadly it blew the engine once racing at sears point and the blower was on its way out when we "traded" it in for the mini. I do miss that truck! oh well what can you do. 468 bhp /528 lbs torque it was nasty!
Before my R56 was another R56.
Before that R56 was an R53
Before that R53 was another R53
Before that was a 500HP supercharged C5 convertible.
That C5 has been offered back to me for sale 5 times since I bought my first Mini. In fact, it was offered 2 weeks ago again to me.
Can’t do it, I love my mini....

Too many to mention but the last 3 cars directly before my present MINI were:
Porsche Boxster
Nissan 350Z
Jeep Wrangler 4X4
The Porsche was a fun car to drive but I was tired of being paranoid where to park, where to take it, where to leave it. It took the joy out of ownership.

I was driving an SUV that I had to have...a 2001 Black Dodge Durango w/26gal. Tank!!
Once Molly came home Hubby's Chevy Blazer was sold and he inherited the Durango.
Tonight on the way home we fueld the car we traded the Durango in on a 2010 Kia Soul SE3 Shadow Dragon "Smaug", well the pump my Husband pulled up to was just used and the Sticker Price...$95.00 and some change for a little over 25gals., that would have been us if we had been fueling the Durango at Today's Gas Prices!!
Thankfully his Soul and Molly get 25+mpg!!
