R56 What Did You Drive Before Your R56?
I have had a lot of new cars, but I must say my MCS is my second favorite after my NSX.
66 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442, bought used with 23k on the odometer in 1988, 1st car $1000, still miss it.
92 Toyota Paseo
93 Ford Escort Wagon
94 Honda Prelude
95 Honda Civic
96 Honda Civic
97 Volkswagon Jetta
97 Chevrolet Corvette
98 Ford Mustang GT Convertible
99 Honda Accord
00 Chevrolet Corvette (97 was stolen)
00 Honda S2K
00 Lexus IS 300 (turbo upgrade to 500 HP)
00 Dodge Intrepid
01 Honda Civic
02 Ford Mustang Cobra Convertible
03 Mitsubishi EVO 8 (went crazy with mods 600hp)
04 Jeep Liberty
04 Honda Accord
05 Honda S2K (wife crashed 00 S2K at track)
06 Ford Escape
07 Honda Ridgeline (still have)
09 Honda Accord

You can not beat the fun to drive factor of a MCS.

My wife bought her 09 MCS on the 19th. Traded her 07 rabbit for it. The rabbit was nice but under her moms name. Wife made every single payments on it but her mom still insisted that my wife had to buy it from her after it was paid off. So it was traded in for her dream car.
I then bought an r53 this past Friday after trading in an e30 and selling my 74 Ford f250.

Too many cars to count over the years, but my wife will describe them as "phases". There was the Saab phase (2), the BMW phase (3), the Audi phase (3), the VW phase (5). Mind you, with six drivers in the family, it's easy to accumulate cars. The last car was one a Golf TDI that I bought as a commuter car, then passed down through every teenage driver, then took back as my daily commuter. It had barely broken in at 125K miles and still got 46-50 mpg consistently. Great car to teach kids how to drive a stick -- so much torque in the low end that you could shift from 1st to 5th gear without ever touching the gas pedal. The other plus on that car -- when I could find biodiesel, I would use that.
I traded a 2007 Dodge Charger R/T for my 2011 LB/LB MCS. It was a great car, and inspired a lot of jealousy at times, but it was time for it to go. I needed something new, smaller, and more fun at the speed limit. The Charger was fun to drive but only through the first few gears and I didn't have anywhere I could get out of second gear at WOT legally lol.
Ive still got my first car, a 1997 integra LS sedan, with a horrible automatic transmission. It was a faithful car to learn on, spritely and fast enough to play with but not fast enough to ever let me get into any real trouble. But now with my brother having his learners permit and myself needing a new car for a 100 mile total daily commute with any luck ill have an r56 in my driveway any day now :D
The wifey drove a 07 Chevy Silverado, sold it for a awesome price and bought the R56. We still have an E21 320i, E21 323i, E24 635csi, and another truck we still use. The R56 is her primary vehicle and my weekend canyon carver and auto-x car.
I started out with an 01 tundra access cab 4.7l V8 was offered 2k for it on trade in and started laughing, bought my 2011 cooper s and the payments are less than I used to spend in gas. The tundra lives in the driveway as a weekend toy now.

Cooper S of course!
Had an R53 with 133,000 miles clocked on. Original clutch still working, original suspension bushings & struts needed replacing @ about 85,009 miles but I drove it anyway. Wanted a Clubman but they weren't available yet.
I have always enjoyed a vehicle that is fun, nimble and somewhat practical.
In chronological order:
Triumph TR6 - used (circa 1965)
Datsun 240Z -
Porsche 911SC Targa - 1976
Acura NSX - 1991
Mini Cooper S - 2011
I must confess that I am unable to sell the NSX and the MCS is really driven primarily by my wife.

Well, I traded in an 08 Jeep Rubicon for my 09MCS and Thursday traded my 09MCS in for a 2012 Jeep Rubicon. The MINI will be missed!!!!! I almost shed a tear handing over the keys....BUT, I really needed something a little more rugged.
The MINI is completely different (even compared to my highly modified '99 WRX) and I am really enjoying driving it around. The only things I think I'll miss about the big car are the lack of tow hitch and the room for picking up inter-state visitors and their luggage from the airport
This should take the cake.
My last car (Even though my MC isn't here yet) was an 07 Hyundai Accent GS hatchback. My daughter is using it now.
Yes you may laugh. I needed a car and decided to go cheap.
Really wasn't horrible, and in almost 5 yrs no breakdowns or repairs. That excludes flats. The tires that came with the car attracted screws and nails. They also were terrible in the rain, snow or ice. Got some Michelin Destiny's and no more problems.
This should the biggest upgrade of anyone else who posted.
Do I win some kind of prize?

Ok, well maybe not what you were expecting...but due to Budget Cuts...!!
I owned a 2011 M3, but got totaled and bought a 2006 lotus exige. But it wasn't great for daily drive, but for tracking it was the best car I ever driven.
Yet at the end of the day I still had the mini cooper in the back of my mind, so I sold the lotus and got the mini and I'm loving it.

2005 Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Roadster (Black and Cream), and a 1992 Toyota Pickup DLX Single cab 5 speed manual (Maroonish Red). Loved both of them, but I knew that the car I really wanted was the MINI Cooper S. I do not regret giving those up for my MINI at all!
1984 Toyota Minivan - yellow no less... 5sp, side windows, right mirror, and NOTHING else! Not even a radio as delivered.
1992 Honda Civic DX hatch 2dr, 5sp - as options added, it had a radio, rear wiper, cloth seats, right mirror, power steering. Precious little else, but what FUN!! It handled well, was sprightly with the 1.5l and the 5sp gearbox. No rocket , but FUN!
2001 Acura Integra SE. 10Y/218000Km of reliable, fun. A 40Hp gain on a similar chassis, and more luxury - I finally got A/C and power mirrors and windows!
2012 MCS: Joy! I grew up a gear to a 6sp, more power:weight than the Integra, all the handling and more of the Civic hatch AND luxury. HEATED seats are beyond incredible.
It's been a progression for sure, and I'm happy I get to enjoy for now!
