R56 What Did You Drive Before Your R56?
E30
I still have my 91' 325i E30 which was my first car, and received my 09 coop non s when I finished up High School. E30 has sport bilsteins, ireland engineering springs, turner motorsports chip, scorpion exhaust, hand built adj. short shift, alot of urethane bushings, BMP intake, 22/19 suspension techniques swaybars. Wanting to sellthe mini now to build a hayabusa powered car.
Started with a 93 Ford Escort GT (still kinda miss that car).
The a 96 M3 that I still own.
Got a 2001 Toyota Echo for DD and winter duties. This car was totaled in a rear end collision by a full size Chevy by a distracted driver. HIt me at 45 MPH and the Echo still drove for a while longer before some maintenance issues finally forced me to get it off the road. It had 204,414 miles on it before it was totaled.
The reason I kept driving my Echo cause it took 3 months to get my Mini. But now I have it and it hasn't set in yet. I almost bought a Mini instead of my M3, and while I don't regret buying the M3 (well maybe for unrelated reasons) I am glad to have both now.

I had an 06 Redline. I loved it. A Jeep Grand Cherokee decided to reshape it for me. Thus comes the Mini.
Long story, 2000 Dodge Intrepid 4D. Belonged to a friend that died. Car worked great but his ghost was there each mile. Found a great handyman that needed a car for his family and gave it to him. Went and bought an 09 justa and have enjoyed it greatly!
2007 VW GTI - modded like crazy.
My MCS is already a better handling ( not as fast tho) ride. "Caroline" got a few mods already, but gonna stay tamer this time around.
Mods for the GTi - APR ECU flash, Carbino CAI, Porsche BBK, larger turbo, Forge BOV, etc, if it went bigger, I probably had it.
Fun but a ticket magnet

1995 Volvo 850 T-5R for a 2010 Clubman S.
T5-R had turboback, FMIC, plumbing, tune and a big Infinity system. I am much happier with the handling of the Mini, and the power-to-weight is worth the trade for so many reasons.

Was driving a 2010 Evo X MR...great all around car but the maintenance and gas were just brutal...16mpg and tires typically once per year or every 15K miles...then also the service that is required every 15K...on the MR the tranny needs to be addressed as well at around $800 a pop...
Just needed something cheaper to payoff to hand down to my son to drive when he turns 16 and the Turbo Evo is not really the car for that...

In order
First car - 1990 Ford Probe - no picture - but only last about 10 months before it simply didn't make sense to keep dumping money into it ... seemed every single week it was a new problem.
Second car - 1993 Nissan 300ZX - LOVED this car - bought it when I was 17 and kept it till I was 28. Learned how to work on cars by wrenching on this - and anyone whose seen the engine bay of one of these knows they don't exactly have a lot of room. Decided to sell it after the final year of owning it I only put 75 miles on it. I had bought a Jeep to make it through the winters here in Colorado and with part prices on the Z getting so expensive I simply didn't drive it anymore. So it was sold. May get another one some day.

Third - 1999 Jeep Cherokee - can't seem to locate a picture. Great car - terrible gas mileage but it was reliable and cheap to repair. The gas mileage did this one in.
Fourth - 2008 Nissan Altima - wanted out of the Jeep badly - was sick of the 10 MPG around town and the rough ride. Didn't need the winter car as badly anymore. Thought the Altimas looked pretty good at the time - trip to the dealer and ended up walking out with one. Looking back on it - it wasn't the best purchase - it was a great car - but it was SOOOOOOO boring to drive. I put 22,000 miles on it in the 3-1/2 years I owned it - still looked brand new. But I wanted something fun to drive again.
Fifth - 2012 MINI Cooper S Clubman - back to fun driving again

Before my 2011 MCS with JCW upgrade, I drove a 2011 Honda CRZ hybrid. It was a very nice car, but one major flaw. If you want to drive in economy mode for best fuel economy, the engine will auto-stop at a traffic light. The problem is that the AC shuts down as well. That does not work in Florida!!
I had a beautiful 2008 BMW 335i hardtop convertible, fully-loaded with sports package and everything. I loved that car! But the fiancee and I are getting married in May, so to save up some extra cash (calculated an extra $400/month) I traded her in for my Mini S. Thank goodness too because I don't know how the 335 would have been in this last snow storm! My Mini, however, was a tank in the snow! I was shuttling people everywhere lol. I can't wait to put blizzaks on it!
Sometimes I do sigh, though, when I see other 335 convertibles driving by with the top down....
Oh well!
