The thermostat is possibly bad.

Also, is the coolant level low in the coolant reservoir?

I haven't checked the temperatures directly on my Mini, but these cars run rather hot by default so that may not be a problem. With a 50/50 coolant mix and a pressurized system it will not start to boil until well above 100C.

Is this new behavior...like, was it running cooler before? Are you getting any warnings on the instruments? Any OBD codes for the thermostat? If "no" to all of those then it's probably fine.

As a test, you can try turning on sport mode, or try turning on the air conditioner. Both of those are supposed to tell the ECU to drop the temperature. If that works then your thermostat is probably okay.

Again, I don't have direct experience measuring temperatures on the car, but I think this is all correct based on what I've learned.

My coolant temperature has never risen higher than 100.5 C. I live in Houston, Texas.

So my guess is you're running sport mode or with the A/C turned on, both of which will lower the coolant temperature. In normal running 103-107C is apparently the set point; running hotter apparently helps with efficiency.

Between the glycol mix and the cooling system pressure a Mini shouldn't start to boil over until somewhere in the 115C range.

Never sport mode, nearly always A/C.

105c is the setpoint for the car (normal).

Check your coolant level, and then drive the car and let it reach operating temperature. Once the engine is at 105c, hold the accelerator pedal to the floor; you should see the temperature drop.

If I had to guess given the symptom I'd say the lower mount (under the engine). That one's fairly easy to change, or you gan get a polyurethane insert for it.

Well, you can just buy a new part, or you can try the poly insert. I don't know if it's available where you live but this is one option:

https://www.powerflexusa.com/shop/pf...=1448#attr=626

The lower link is pretty easy. Just jack up the car and it's right there. You can loosen the two bolts to remove it, or swing it down and put in the poly insert.

Note that there's no guarantee that this is your problem, it's just a possibility. The engine or transmission mounts could be worn as well, or it could be something else.

Good luck. The gearbox and motor mounts are a bit more work to replace, but not too bad if you're experienced working on cars.

See if you can find a procedure online for those. You need to support the engine with a jack and then remove a bunch of stuff in the engine bay, and there are some tricky bolts to get to. But like I said, I did it and it wasn't too bad.
