How to Install New Style Shift Linkage Clip?

Can anyone give me some help installing this clip at the end of my shifter linkage? It looks different from the original clip and not sure how it goes, or even if its the right part. The part number dealer gave me is 25112754813. Even a picture of it installed on your car would be great.
Here's the existing part:

Here's the new part:

Hello,

Here is the part: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...p/25112754813/

Located here: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...40#25112754813

For this cable: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...r/25117594646/

On the end near the transmission.

Snaps on the ball end on the transmission https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...spd-trans.html

Then the clip finishes the job after the cable link is snapped into that.

The other side has a diffrent clip also

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...e/25118609053/

It holds those cables in places. Narrow U clip side goes down and slides in from side, pair of pliers should work.

See the numbers on the diagram.

I am still fascinated at these clips. When I did my clutch R&R, those clips were not on my cables. Maybe I'll have to pick up a couple and stick them on....

This is VERY helpful, thanks. I'm thinking the part I call the old clip goes onto the end of the shift rod FIRST and then the clip i pictured as the new part slides over the top, keeping everything together. Agree? Picture of Clip installed anyone?

That's how I would understand it to go together. The clip becomes the secondary point of security.

Calling the dealer to install the safety clip at no charge. This is a workmanship issue that made it dangerous to drive. :(
Thanks all for your help.

Thank you sooo much. Not installing the safety clip when the clutch was replaced created a safety issue that made it dangerous to drive. I will arrange to have the dealer install it at no charge.

Yep its was a fix down the road. I dont know when they issued them But part came out in 2011. I checked my 2012 R58 and i did not have them. Sometimes parts are warranty fix, and never become repair bulletins.

All really useful information and explains why the safety clip was not installed in '09 MINIs, the fix did not yet exist. Now that it does, I sure want it in mine.
The dealer is installing it today, I don't want that rod end coming loose again.

BTW, if you don't want to install the safety clip, the part number for the rod end clip shown below is N90815903, Yes, its a VW part but it is identical and will fit. Available from ECS Tuning. Good to have a couple spares in the glovebox JIC..

No that i have seen. But its very close the same design, might be worth a chance to try to install one. I did both my cables on my R52 already. Have not tested the clip yet.

Links all working above for my post.
