Replacement battery registration.

Hi all,

I just replaced my OEM Varta (dead) battery with a bigger EXIDEMXH6L348MARATHON MAX AGM by myself. Do I need to register this battery, how do I go about it?

Thank you!

on your negative terminal was there something that resembled a fuse? If not then you should be good.

"Was there?".... Do you mean on the old battery? There is something right in the center that perhaps looks like a fuse, not sure though. The new battery is in now and seems perfectly fine.

As far as I remember, it was a plain vanilla terminal, no electronic component on it. I will take another look though. What if there is a fuse?

Thank you!

if it’s a plain vanilla terminal then you are fine. If it’s like the one from above then you need to register it and I think your foxwell should be able to do it.

if it needs to be registered (because it has IBS Intelligent Battery System) and you don't do it

your battery won't charge optimally, especially with your having changed the battery capacity

it will work fine for now, but you may experience a shorter battery life due to less than optimal charging

If you do have the IBS and need to register it, there is an app for that. Bimmerlink, along with an OBD Dongle will allow you to register the new battery, as well as a host of other things that you can do/view.
