Genuine LED DRL help

Just installed the LED fogs in the lower bumper and I can not get the halo DRL to light. I’ve tapped into about 3 different wires with no avail. Can someone help me out? I have read through the forums and used their advice too and have got nothing to work. The fog light and half moon light up perfectly

Thanks

If these are the lights you have, ECS has updated installation instructions at the bottom of this page: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...63122338554kt/

Thanks, I have followed those and the older ones that I found online and also read a ton of threads. I found and tapped the grey wire they say to and now the DRL are constantly on. They don’t go off, I have turned them off in the dash and also, the right turn signal isn’t working. Does it sound like I have a short somewhere?

Not sure, have you tried disconnecting the taps and plugs to see if everything works normally again?

I would post in the other threads so the previous posters get a notification. That should really increase the number of views on the issue. Were these part of the threads you looked at?

If the fogs and crescent light illuminate correctly, they are wire correctly. Try placing the DRL trigger on the battery to see what happens.

Didn’t get a chance to mess with anymore yesterday. Just disconnected the blue wire all together and didn’t fix my light situation of the DRL always on regardless of computer. Disconnected battery and still didn’t change. I feel like I blew a fuse or something but still doesn’t make sense.
Next is to connect the blue wire directly to the battery but won’t get a chance today. Thanks for the help guys

One more thing, if you have the DRL active in the onboard computer, you have to turn it off.

Thanks, yeah it is off. I have never had them on. I can not find this issue now. I disconnected the wire going to the footwell module, disconnected the positive wire for the DRL module. And now I have disconnected the battery negative and positive overnight. Nothing is going back to normal. What I have found is I have lost lights in the HVAC unit. Everything HVAC related works, just no lights at night. The turn signal lever is dead. I have no turn signals, no high beams. I do not have a BMW specific code reader, but am assuming I threw some internal codes that I cannot see. Made an appointment with Mini to see if they can help, might take it to buddy’s shop to get his insight too. Plan tonight is to hook up blue wire directly to 12v source to see if LED halo comes on at all.
Thanks for everyone’s responses. Will keep up to date

Just an update, I am 95% sure that I messed up the entire footwell module when I was confused and hooked up the running light wire to the incorrect wires. I believe it is messed up by doing research and seeing that headlights, taillights won’t shut off, and other lights may not work and this and that. Seems to be my issue. I am going to send my footwell module to speedofix in about a week or so. While that’s out, I will cut and solder the running lights into the correct grey wire so I know I have a good connection. Will keep updated.

Just an update for any future comers

Sent the footwell module to Speedofix. That did nothing. Absolutely nothing. Supposedly they reset the whole module and clear any errors. I didn’t have any communication with them like I thought I would. I put in the notes what wasn’t working. They didn’t email me, call me, or send anything back saying what they found or didn’t find. Little disappointed with that. So previous lights that won’t turn on, still don’t, turn lever is still dead, and headlights are on with tails. I soldered the blue fog wire with the correct grey wire. DRL ring still doesn’t work. Before I did that, I did test the blue wire to a 12V lead. Rings lit up like they are supposed to. I’m wondering if it is the control box itself, but everything works like it should with the fog lights. Don’t know where to go from here other than taking to Mini. Don’t really want to spend a ton to just have them diagnose it. I checked every single fuse, they are all good. Only thing I didn’t check are any relays or the big fuses that I am not sure how to tell if they are good or not. Anyone have any insight as to what I should check next before biting the bullet to the dealer? I’m going to post this in the old posts about this too. Hopefully I get more traction through that. Thanks!
