MCS trade for a GP2😮

So, today as I was in for my scheduled service, I am made aware of a GP2 that had just been put up for sale and was on the lot. It was a Lease by MINI employee, 10,000 miles. Emaculate condition. $28,500 was the asking price. So as most know, my MCS is heavily modded. But I became over zealous and decided that I would take the loss on some parts, being I wanted to upgrade anyway. I.e. Exh, intercooler, meth kit line install, etc... However, I could not give up the DOS intake, Mquebed DP, Howerton tank and a few other things.

So I weighed in the fact of how good an offer I would get for my 2013 MCS and what the buy out would be for the GP2. I was like exclusivity, less mileage, and more warranty adds up for some of the after market loss.

BLUF: deal was a no go. I was offered a rude awakening when It came to light that my MCS was only worth $15,500 as a trade. That was even after returning admitted mods to stock. I could not even think of giving up Heisenberg for such a cheap offer. Plus I also found out that my Manic tune would be a total loss, and I would basically be starting from scratch.

I said to hell with it, set HEISENBERG to Map B, and enjoyed the hard earned work and mods that I have invested into my MINI.

Not an investment for trade but rather for the experience and enjoyment of Motoring👍

As a private seller you could net a whole lot more for your 2013 MINI Cooper S, I think the dealers trade in prices are downright rude and insulting!

I would take the 15 and go with the GP2! But I'm just crazy and wouldn't mind piecing together the GP2 as well.

edit: nm! you're a '13. If it were like a '10 or '11 then probably. Our MINI's don't hold value well AT ALL.

Trade = wholesale value.

Regardless of what you think your car is worth on the private market, does not mean you'll get anywhere near that on trade.

Yup, agree with you all. I was so tempted to give up the MCS just to have the priviledge of owning a GP. But with all my Mods and the Manic Tune, it was a no brainer to hold on to my negatative investment, LOL...

Hang onto the S - the GP is fun, but some days it gets old worrying about a 'limited edition' car.

When it comes down to it, we own MINI's because they are fun, and when we mod them they become an extension of our personality. Sometimes we need a change, but it is rare to be able to match a car to our liking.

Mine is a bit rough around the edges, and a little worn here and there. But most days I smile when I'm driving it. Life is good!

Have fun,
Mike

How many miles on your 2013 MCS? I paid $18,000 for my 2007 MCS two years ago, had 45,000 miles on it, when washed people always say, "that's an 07 MCS?" I have a a friend at a body shop that got me a great deal, repainted the whole Mini and replace all trim pieces. Runs as good as it looks!

Good luck, hope you can get the GP2 , might be better not to trade but to sell your MINI own your own.

I'm buying a GP2 with 321 miles on it! I got lucky with my Mayfair S being bought back by BMW for the full purchase price I paid for it in 2013 due to known issues and having to have my car fixed multiple times for fuel delivery issues! I do have to add some $$ to the purchase but not as much as I would have if I had bought it new in 2013. BMW stands by their products! Thank you BMW/Mini!!
