Condition based service (CBS) is the system MINI created to manage regular service intervals and maintenance items. Service intervals and maintenance items are no longer services solely based on mileage or time, but now a combination of items. CBS utilizes sensors, vehicle driving conditions, and time to determine the service intervals. We have an article on our site under MINI > R56 articles > Basics & Essentials > Condition Based Service Explained, that goes over each one in detail if you want to learn more about it.

Quoting Capt bj from June 2014 - https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...l#post3951674:
there are two brake wear systems
One is a miles counter, similar to the oil change one, by monitoring certain engine parameters it guesses your brake wear. When my counter went off, I checked my pads, saw plenty of pad left so reset the counter, which can be done thru the OBC and the stalk button.
The other is the brake wear sensor. When the sensor trips the sensor has been "used" and must be replaced to resent this part of the system. The sensor trips by wearing down due to contact with the rotor until a wire loop in the sensor breaks creating an open circuit. So if you try to reset a brake warning and CAN'T, I'll bet you a donut one of your sensors has tripped.

If it's the former, my experience is that the car-on-lift cycles about every 30K miles or so, so your mileage may indicate a second cycle through the CBC. If, as Pelican suggests, you have verified brake condition, then the symbol can be cleared via the OBC and stalk button. Here's one approach, but a search will divine others:
