R56 Carbotech AX6's on the street?
I am on my second set of AX6 in front and the first set in back. Soon I will need new ones all around. I use them year round and also for autox and track days.
I love these pads, but they do dust a fair amount. They also sometimes (but not always, squeak.) During the coldest Chicago mornings I can tell they take a bit longer to stop at first due to being so cold, but it isn't a dangerous situation, and if you are not very in tune with your brakes, you might not even notices (but anyone thing about AX6s is probably very in tune to their brakes
)
The best thing about AX6s is the extreme control and feel they give.

Do they dust more than OEM pads? I had carbotech bobcats on my last mini and honestly I did not like the way they felt. Everyone says they have more "modulation" but to me the modulation felt like excessive pedal travel. Are the AX6 pads the same way in regards to feel?
The AX6 do dust more than stock pads.
I think the modulation is better. Any pad will allow you to lock up the brakes, but with better modulation you can more easily control how close you get to lock up.
I'll try and explain how it feels to me. With the stock pads, lets say you have 10 steps of braking where 10 is wheel lock up. With the AX6 you have 100 steps of braking (where 100 is wheel lock up). Does that help?
A question I'd have is how does the AX6 feel compare to the Bobcat's. Just because they are made by the same company doesn't necesarily mean they will feel the same.

I run X-8 rear and x-10 fronts on my JCW. Unbelievable stopping power on the street and track. X-10 are very aggressive on the front rotors but I have over 20K on them and many track days. Rotors are not that expensive and brakes are not place to go cheap if you track your car. Probably over kill for the street but required when you add sticky tires. Running Conti D/W's on the street and wet days and it is great combination. Brakes are very grabby but you get use to it right away. Warn people before you let them drive the car. Buddy took mine for a test drive and forgot to buckle up. Hit the brakes hard and ate the windscreen

that had that kind of stopping power, wow!".

I just placed my order for new rotors and AX6 pads to be used for autocross. I needed something with more stopping power and more fade resistance because so far this season I have had several occasions where I have met the limit of my OEM JCW pads.
How should I bed the AX6 pads in? On carbotechs website it talks about doing it only on the track. I won't be tracking these pads and do not have access to a track. What should I do to bed them in on country roads?

I've got AX6's on my Miata. Wouldn't run them on the Mini since I didn't get it for autocross.
There is a heavy amount of dust. As in clean your rims, have a spirited drive and within 20 miles the fronts are not clean anymore.
When cold or just braking lightly they WILL squeak and possibly make people look at you while thinking you need to replace your brake pads. I don't care in the Miata but Mini I would.
