Need torque specs

Just need to know the torque specs for an n18 turbo studs. Replacing my downpipe tomorrow and want to get prepared. Does anyone know a trick to getting them out as well? Besides soaking them in wd-40?

I use PB Blaster. To remove studs I normally just file two flat-ish spots on the stud and grab onto it with vice grips. Never had a problem getting one out. You can also use two nuts to remove studs.

I think the OP mispoke. He really just needs to remove the nuts, which is no big deal. I wouldn't mess with the studs at all during a downpipe install.

You are correct and beat me to correcting myself. Lol. I just need to know the torque specs. I read that it's 44ft lbs for the manifold studs but can't find it for the downpipe bolts. I'm going to guess that is pretty close to 44. But I'm just getting started so I'll try and do some more research by the time it's time to put everything back together.

The stud is only an M8. 44 ft-lbs is way too much for a stud that thick. I have the Bentley manual at home and will look later.

I've put it together before without using a torque wrench. Nice and snug with enough clamping force to crush the gasket always worked for me.

From what I'm reading in the Bentley its not a lot of torque... "stud to turbocharger.... 11 ft-lbs"

Unless its the "catalytic converter to exhaust manifold... stage 1 = 61.9 in-lbs and stage 2 =29.5 ft-lbs"

Second one seems most likely though not sure why they call the turbo the exhaust manifold.

I noticed that too. 11 ft-lbs is not very tight. Last time I did it I just German Gutentighted the nut with some anti-seize.
