Those thinking about the Visual Boost/Connected/Nav: The last time I owned a Mini was when it had a C-cassette player. I didn't get the Visual Boost, Connected/Nav, thought I would be able to live without it (what I keep telling myself is I want to keep the Mini true to its original self/the feeling of it, thus the central speedo), though after seeing the Visual Boost, which looked great, started thinking what could be done to the current radio screen to make it look more cool? Any ideas? Any engineers around?

I know I would have to get the Mini before starting the mods, but one can dream/speculate?

Any ideas what are you guys gonna do with GPS units, if you didn't get the Mini Connected/Navi? I currently own a TomTom Rider2. Quite a brick. + few Nokia cellphone navis.

 

I just wanna to stop in and say, I have been lurking on this thread and you folks sure have a lot of positive energy! I can't wait until you all get your MINIs. I happy for all of you. I'll be looking for the pics soon!

 

The nav was one option I elected to decline this time around. I have an iPad so I decided to give that a try. I don't use nav on a regular basis, just on certain trips anyway. So, after doing the research, I chose MotionXDrive. It offers 3G+gps enabled dynamic data updating, route selection and updating on the fly, vocal turn by turn directions. And address entry, via text entry or contacts. So far vie tested it for about a week and its been great.

Caveats: the screen can have more glare than the muted finish of a car nav screen, so you have to take care about viewing angle unless you build a prper mount.

 

So...he's here. Clubby is here and he's getting prettied up and is going to be MINE tomorrow late morning. Look for some pics tomorrow You guys know I'll try to post a few, although they'll be crappy iPhone pics because I'll be out driving, but I won't let my unofficial-support-group down.

And damn...this feeling is AWESOME You guys have been the best, and hemi/dodgy/captfred/jcw/others, we'll be rooting for you till the end. We've all been in this since day 1.

Gosh, remember back in August when we were all dying waiting for the pricing? then the configuratior? then ours CARS! Well, guys...it all comes to an end! We'll have to make ourselves a whole new thread to keep up with each other...if we ever stop driving. My commute to work is 4mi...I've already mapped out the long way Co-workers think i'm nuts because i'm looking forward to moving farther away.

Holy crap, Orm wasn't joking! It really is name your car day... I'm going with Declan for a couple of reasons.

 

Mine is going to Lil Guy, cause he's little and a guy. Right now he's wondering what all this wet sticky stuff is doing on his body, but it has dried, and now they are doing it again. Only this time the stuff is really bright red in color and he asks, "Who ever thought of this combination, I'm going to stick out like a fire at night?"

Well hello good sirs! People say "oh I drive the entire way home with a smile blahblah". Well..I DID! What an offing blast this car is. The ride is smooth, accerlation easy and (VERY) fast, just a joy to drive. Spent the last two hours figuring everything out. AND MINI is giving $1k off MSRP, just like that, which was a great surprise to me!!
