R56 2 different door/seatbelt chimes?
2 different door/seatbelt chimes?
I noticed in my bro's 2009 Mini S with Nav has a deeper sounding Chime than my 2010 S without NAV.
Is this something new in 2010 or is it because I do not have the NAV/i-drive?
I kinda like the quirky deeper chime.

Depending on the options as to what the chime sounds like and what adjustments you have for it.
From experience not from what MINI says.
Without the NAV but with the HiFi there is an adjustment that adjusts the tone and volume of the chime.
With out the HIFI and NAV there is a volume adjust but it does not adjust the tone.
EDIT: but then again form car to car the adjustment also seems to vary even with the same equipment setups.
Door 'Ajar' Warning...
I do not seem to have a Door 'Ajar' Warning??!!
My Husband and I have experimented with this, when I am in R and moving Backwards, he opens his door and there is no Door 'Ajar' Tone and no Warning displayed on the Tach...I'm confused...with all of the other Electronic Warning's the MINI gives off, did they simply Forget this one??!!

I know its frustrating for you, but this is one of the funniest video`s I have seen in a long time!
I sure do hope they find out what the problem is!
my tone is different (NAV)
i get that once in a while too, here's what i do that works about 75% of the time.
remove the key, unbuckle the seat belt, open the door, bounce up and down in the seat like an idiot a few times, close the door, insert key, acc on.
if that doesn't work,
remove key, unbuckle, get out, arm alarm twice, unlock, get in, wiggle my butt in the seat, close the door, buckle seat belt, insert key. if the chime stops, start the car. if not, scream and yell.

These cars are fully computer controlled and some times the only way to rest them is to do a hard reboot by disconnecting the battery.
Oh man...I posted the link to illustrate the noise mine makes, but I do not have the problem illustrated in the video LOL...I just used it as a reference. I have no issues with a continuous chime, I just wished I had the "cooler" chime as I mentioned in the first post but could not find an example.
So sorry for the confusion, and yes, although tragic, that video is pretty funny.

You can change the volume of the tone if you want to...
Its not the volume I want to change, its the tone of it...like the Nav cars...which I had a sound clip.
This is the other chime, for cars with navigation.
BMW used to use different chimes for cars with and without nav too but now they all use the nav one, which sounds lovely.

And yes...the BMW sound is awesome, my 135i with iDrive makes that noise! Glad to see it in the new 7.
There was a big thread about some 09 cars missing their door ajar warnings! My 08 is confirmed both doors work. I keep the Gong volume all the way down. Press the musical Note button and roll the top **** to get to the second page. (I just wish it would go lower!)
Like "RJKimbell," my MINI doesn't seem to make any "door ajar" noises; and I couldn't find the thread to which "strobeyprobey" referred. Mine just makes the "key-in-ignition" alert when the engine is off, and my 2009 owner's manual doesn't even mention a "door ajar" alert -- but I've also found it to be pretty vague about a lot of things, including warning tones...

Today i installed a boost cd on my car. The difference that i notice is that the boost cd has a little speaker on the back that is doing the annoying gong sound. To a friend of mine his car makes the softer gond sound from speakers. Can i have the sound like my friends mini? If i program it somehow?
