Replacing side blinker

I was driving to work today and heard a thumping noise; I looked out my window to see my side scuttle fixture flapping wildly about (this is while doing 75 on the highway) By the time I could get over to the shoulder, it had completely ripped off, leaving me with just the wires to the light sticking out. So my question is, is replacing the light fixture something I need a professional to do, or is it relatively simple? I haven't had a chance to look at it under the hood yet.

Easy to do, unless the connector for the light got torn off too. The light fixture hooks into the scuttle on the forward end, and back of it snaps in (when you see it, you'll figure it out).

The scuttle piece has hooks that snap into slots on the quarter panel. Raise the bonnet, press the hooks into the slots, and slide towards the rear. Again, once you see it, you'll figure it out.

If you want to see how it works on your remaining side marker light, raise the bonnet, and use the heal of your hand to kind of snap the assembly forward. It should pop right out.

I'd take pics, but my Cooper is 800 miles away right now. Perhaps someone else will post some.

It's not just changing the bulb, it's replacing the whole thing, as all that's left is the wires sticking out; the bulb and its housing came off as well. I attached a pic.

I would recommend going back to the dealer as soon as possible (today) and explain that it just fell off. Some dealers will take care of you. This has happened to other people as well.

It wasn't the stock scuttle though, I had put on the black jack ones. I suppose I could take off the other black jack and put on the original, but that's a bit...shady.

Go to the dealer. They should replace it (including the Black Jack sides) under warranty.

I agree with Porthos, but in this case I'd still take it to the dealer first.

Any particular reason that anyone knows why these don't look like the one's on their website?

The reason why I ask is because I very much like the frosted lens rather than the clear one where you can see all the innerds.

OK Edit here: Porthos, did you get the black ones?

So you did lose the lamp connector. I expect the dealer will charge you some $$ to replace that.

If you can handle a soldering iron and heatshrink tubing, you could just go looking for a wrecked MINI in a boneyard, cut the connector (and about 3 inches of wiring) off of it and splice it onto what's left of yours.

The reason is because I got the black ones not the chrome ones.
