R56 MPG for YOUR MINI!!! mine seems really low =(
I have a 2010 cooper S, there are so many factors, I mean soooo many factors that affect gas mileage IE: weather, altitude, rpms your shifting at, tire pressure, ect. I usually shift at around 4K unless I feel like opening it up, and its always on sport mode, usually cruise at 40-60 MPH in 6th gear. Its been a steady 29.3 for a while and if I really really go easy I will watch it go up to about 30

Last drive I took averaged around 12 mpg. MCS manual trans R56.
On freeway and highway driving I usually get 32-34 depending on traffic and whether the A/C is on. I think I might have gotten as high as 36 on one trip.

2. What are your tire pressures?
3. How much bumper to bumper traffic driving?
4. How much city driving with a traffic light at every block?
5. How many miles is you usual drive?
I have an 07 and I do a lot highway driving but I go over the speed limit and I get there pretty fast. I avg about 30mpg but have gotten it up to 36mpg. Also I driv a 6spd. I think the big thing is taking off from a light don't treat it like a drag strip. Stay as smooth as possible while driving don't speed up and slow down or randomly touch the brakes. Coast up to a light and slowly ease into the brake. Also if you have it and you are on the freeway use your cruise control. Don't be one of the jerks in the left lane speeding up and slowing down.
Don't believe the OBC
so i was just wondering whats everyone mpg on their mini, mine says its only 22.9 .
so low =(
wondering if it was normall?

We don't do a lot of bumper to bemper stuff, but maybe 70/30 hwy/city. I drive pretty spiritedly (within legal limits, of course) from stoplights, corners, on/off ramps, etc and we have averaged mid-30's (38 OBC) over the last several tanks in our '09 Cooper. Just for fun, I drove pretty conservatively (not drafting or anything like that) for a tank and averaged 45 mpg on the OBC, which tends to be 2-3 mpg generous when I do the actual calculation.
Those numbers seem way off to me. I use GasBuddy to keep track of my mileage and how much I'm spending on gas and my lowest was 28. Highest was 38. I usually average 33 in the summer even with the A/C on. Now that we're freezing down here in Texas, I'm averaging 30 mpg. I haven't changed my oil yet, I'm only at the 10,000 mile mark, but I check my oil level regularly as well as coolant and tire pressure. I have a MC automatic. I drive only in automatic mode and I live in the suburbs so my driving is mixed, and I'm not a pansy when it comes to driving. I've only looked at the OBC once for mileage information so I'm not sure that it's the most accurate thing to be looking at.
my cars average says 37.7 right now i drive pretty conservatively unless i see a road with a lot of curves ahead, mines not an "S" and is six speed and i do mostly suburb driving. i usually get 500+ miles to a tank

Mine gets about 28 or 29 (calculated myself). I've got an 09 MCS. The OBC will be off because it averages out all the tanks of gas and not just the one you just got unless you reset the count....
Im getting 35 mpg with a 09' Just A Cooper Automatic. I just motor around town and work . Average 415 miles off one tank of gas . I get worried when the gas meter gets close to empty and the computer says you still have 25 miles to go so i get gas Hum !
Our 09 Justa automatic has been averaging 32.9 in mixed city/interstate. On our trip to Key West we averaged 36.7 staying at speeds from 65 to 75 and using the cruise control. The one tank that we did all city driving here and around Orlando, the car got 30.8. The overall average in Mini's foirst 3500 miles has been 34.4. It goes down a bit when the rack and the bike is on top (duh, ya think??, increase drag by 80% and guess what happens). We've also found a LARGE difference in mileage driving with the sunroof open (in either position). Before it got cold down here, we were finding that the AC cost us about 1.5 mpg in mixed driving.
We're pretty happy with the economy, although I hope to get even better when the run-flats finally get done trying to beat us to death.
Still, its a rare tank that doesn't take us well over 400 miles.
I presume that the stick does better (at least that was what I argued with my wife before she issued her final "automatic or nothing" edict).

Pretty much describes my driving of late, and my mileage figures are virtually identical. My other car averages about 19, so I'm quite happy with the numbers.
