I haven't changed my oil yet, I'm only at the 10,000 mile mark, but I check my oil level regularly as well as coolant and tire pressure. I have a MC automatic. I drive only in automatic mode and I live in the suburbs so my driving is mixed, and I'm not a pansy when it comes to driving. I've only looked at the OBC once for mileage information so I'm not sure that it's the most accurate thing to be looking at.
Thanks for the gasbuddy tip!! Cool site. My new-2-me 05MCS got 23.3 mpg in December and 23.9 so far in January. Lotsa fun! and more fuel efficient than the explorer. Alot drier and warmer, but less fuel efficient than the Honda Shadow Aero street bike.

Averaging right at 30 right now with this frigid weather we have. The winter gas blend ain't helpin' either. About 75% highway driving.

Clubman S, calculated average for 11K miles is 28.8, lowest ever 25.0, highest 33.8. Best I could do in the cold was about 31, being very gentle, living and working in the suburbs with 6 mile trips, but no traffic.

The computer says I get about 35.8, but I think it's probably about 30. That's with 90% city driving.

Mini MPG

I have a 2008 MCS and use it to commute every day to work in the Washington, DC Area so I drive 95% heavy highway/stop & go traffic. I get right around 29mpg (calculated by me). The computer usually runs around 30 - 31mpg.

I have noticed that my computer overestimates the gas mileage by a few mpgs....

Mine is currently 30.6 according to the obc with 3-4 tanks since last being reset. I drive pretty aggressively when there is little traffic. My commute is 23 miles with city and freeway traffic. My commute is 50-75 minutes each way to give an idea of average speeds.

My manual MCS runs around 26-28 by manual calculations in mostly bumper to bumper with short moments of spirited driving. On weekends, I tend to run a bit lower (24-25) as my foot becomes much heavier and the blockages become less frequent. I reset after every fuel and the OBC appears to be 1-1.5 mpg too generous. I reset because the indicator that my HPFP was about to die was a drastic drop in fuel economy.

I drive 7 miles each way to work and not too much highway driving during the week so mine stay pretty low. When I do a lot of highway driving it goes up.

My most recent tank, tracked in gas buddy, had me at 21.5. That was a lot of really, really cold weather and me letting the car warm up. Before it got very cold, I was around 27-28 locally.

1. Auto trans will drop your mileage a few mpg from the typical manual driver.
2. Tire pressures are important for mpg, and safe driving. You cannot depend on the TPMS. It will only tell you if they are way way too low. Get a good tire pressure gauge and check them every few weeks. Keep them somewhere between 36-38 psi (measured cold).
3 & 4. This kind of driving is worst for mpg. Next time you take a trip where you are mostly driving 45-75 mph, you will find you get much better mpg.
5. Yes, it you drive just a few miles, the car is not fully warmed up for most of the drive. You get better mpg with a warm engine. So, many short trips vs. one long trip, the long trip will have better mpg.

A manual trans with aggressive driving at highway speeds and few stops could get 32 mpg fairly easily.

My wife drives mostly freeway to and from work at off hours so she gets to go the speed limit. She drives the auto and in 32 recorded fill ups not using the cars computer but good old fashioned hand calculations which are inherently more accurate she is averaging 31.2375 miles per gallon. She uses premium gas and fills at Chevron 99.9% of the time.

Now my car on the other hand is the 6 speed and I drive during rush hour traffic and about 8 miles per day shorter than her commute. (Mine is 44 miles per day.)
I drive my car in a much more spirited manner than her. In 26 recorded fill ups calculating the old fashioned way, not using the cars computer, I also use premium fuel and 99.9% of the time fill at Chevron, my car is averaging 31.77308 miles per gallon.

I don't know what our cars computers say I don't pay attention to them, but I do believe that they read higher than actual. I also have found that both cars speedometers read 3 mph fast.

Mine was about 29-30 and then the numbers went up to 33-34 after changing my air filter at 12,000 miles. The old filter was pretty dirty.

My average MPG over 17,948 miles is... 30.2 MPG

My average speed on the computer is about 30-40 MPH at each fill up before I reset.

29-30...though I just went to wider tires so I'd expect to be closer to 29.

Anyone here use this site to keep track of their MPG?

http://www.fuelly.com/

Just wondering?

According to my trip computer, I get around 28.4 MPG.

im sure most of us have 10% ethanol blend in our gas these days. if we didnt we would be seeing about 2 mpgs more than what we get. thanks gov mint for ripping us off.

The place I get my fuel doesn't have any ethanol in their premium, which is what I always use. I drive mostly all highway at around 65 mph, but I always get 37-39mpg.

Wow, I didn't think you could get that anywhere anymore.

My 2010 MCS typically gets 34-36 MPG in mixed driving - manual trans - seems like it's getting better MPG since I ditched the runflats - could be my imagination.
