R56 One thing that drives you nuts about your MINI!
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, or if this is a limitation of my Mini, how can I get fresh air vents going, without the fan on. That drives me nuts. I know I have windows, A/C, and a sun roof, but believe me, there are times when I just want the vents to allow air to blow thru. Can somebody help me out with this.
One thing that drives me nuts...
I love my MINI. I love my husband's MINI, but I am so tired of kicking that damn fuse box panel open (on his). The first time it was like, "Hey, hon, good news! I found your fuse box!"

Another would be with the HOT months coming the Air Conditioner sucks. The vents are behind the steering wheel to much to blow anything on your face. There is no way to turn off the airflow to the top vent that blows air to the back of the car.

It's strange--my '94 BMW had it. You'd think they'd be going forward, not backward. BMW, you messed up!
I LOVE mine but the one frustrating thing is unlocking the door when I'm inside and someone is outside wanting to get in the passenger side. I flick the lock lever up figuring that is unlock and it clicks the door lock in the locked position so I flick the lock up one more time and it unlocks (basically a double flick to unlock). Just seems inconsistent to me.
Oh, and I totally agree the visors are virtually useless - the sun is always coming in that spot in the front between the pillar and visor, or mirror and visor. And the side visor doesn't go back or down far enough so it's not as useful as I'd like and when I tried to lift the seat up I just cracked my head getting in and out of the MINI so that wasn't the solution for me.

Can't be done. I've spent a lot of time trying to do this, and you can only have air (air conditioned or otherwise) with a fan. At least that's the way it is with auto-air. I've been told, but can't verify, that you can get an airflow without fan in the standard air. Too bad, because auto-air isn't worth a flip in my climate.

That's true--I was assuming that Hounds had the double lock setting. I think that's the default, isn't it?
I'm starting to get sick of the exterior black plastic - it's aging/fading pretty fast, without Black Wow it looks pretty crappy. I'm seriously planning a road trip to Minspeed to get my arches painted, or get it done locally
I haven't had the problem, but if it gets back enough and can't be restored, you can buy new arches (that's what you need, right?). I've heard (but haven't verified) that they're pretty cheap.
Yeah, either that or get 'em and all the aprons painted instead of replaced. I'm thinking painting them body color would look nicer and be a more permanent solution than replacing the arches.

The standard body kit fully painted looks pretty nice, almost as nice as the factory Aero

I have two gripes. The seat belt because of the longer doors is way behind you. Hard to reach to buckle up whether the plastic doodad is set or not. My son has a Tahoe and the seat belts are incorporated into the seat back. Much, much handier!!!!
Other thing is that *#&$*$)#*$ shift gate on the 6 speed manual. I've driven several multi speed manual transmissions. This one has the worst gate I've come across. My son drove it once - won't drive it again because of the shift gate.
I think the next one will be an automatic and we may trade a lot quicker than we were planning because of it. Love the transmission - hate the gate.

My previous car was a '94 BMW, which I had since '95. I don't understand why BMW would go backwards on design. Seems like a no-brainer.As for the seat belt, I'm not sure what can be done there since you say you've adjusted the plastic slider. My complaint with the seatbelt is that it doesn't cross at the center of the chest, but at one side. That's basic safety, but the MINI isn't alone in this. I'm a little taller than the average woman at 5' 9", but that's smaller than the average man. Another no brainer. And yes, I've adjusted seat height, steering wheel angle, etc.
Actually, it's not inconsistent, if you remember that your car automatically locks you in as you drive off. When you want to open your door (or your passenger wants to open his), you pull your door handle twice--once to unlock, and once to actually open the door. Right?
