R56 One thing that drives you nuts about your MINI!
I don't need a beep--the locks are the loudest of any car I've ever owned. I can hear them from inside the house!
yes i heard about this too, its just annoying to hold the up switches while shifting gears.
i agree about the loud locks but for some reason my brain doesn't always register this noise. I find myself questioning whether i locked my car and having to go back and check. My past cars beeped upon lock and I liked it better that way.

What you're experiencing is your MINI's call to you. It's sort of like the "are you sure you want to delete this?" question you get on the computer. S/he just wants to make you take another look...
Things that annoy me after about a month in the MCS:
1. Rattles, there are so many it's not even funny.
2. Not sure I'm doing something wrong but the comfort access doesn't seem to open both doors only the one the key is near. This kind of sucks for my gf since I never press the remote, just walk up and get in. Would be nice if it would for her.
3. The iPod cable thing doesn't seem to like my iPhone 3G very much, am guessing I need some other thing installed or something. Tips would be appreciated.
4. There doesn't seem to be a volume indicator and while each source seems to have its own volume not sure what levels they are at (kind of wish I bought the navi since I'm guessing it gives more details).
5. Radio reception sucks, even worse than the outgoing GTI.

2. I know for the non-comfort access, you can program this through the car's computer. Check your manual.
3. Symptoms? I know some people have an "older" revision of the iPod cable that doesn't charge the iPhone 3G.
4. Nope, no volume indicator...

5. Radio reception just sucks in general where I live so I can't really comment on that. Hasn't been noticeably worse than any other car though.

Not too big of a deal since I don't really listen to the radio. I use a 16GB SanDisk Cruzer Micro loaded with a bunch of music usually since it works perfectly it's always plugged in and I leave the iPhone in my pocket.
What I wouldn't mind doing is having a way to split the USB to do the memory stick plus charge the phone...
RE: the unlocking of the doors with Comfort Access...it's definitely a setting in the OBD on whether the unlock switch on the fob unlocks both or just the driver's side....
.
Yes, I realize most men don't carry purses. Yes, I realize the chances of a carjacking are miniscule, even in urban areas. Still...
Haven't had to use my defroster yet but I could see that being annoying.

Funny, a friend of mine had the same rattle with the same cause. I think his was an older model, though (he has 2).
Didn't you drive the car before you bought it? That could have solved numbers 2 and 3.
Do you mean the idiotic "key in, door open" and "Dude, wear your f'g seatbelt!" chimes?
I rode in a friend's '08--his were much more muted. PatM--I'm lazy, and away from the book--do you mean you can tone down these, too? We just finished a long trip (MITM and beyond), and TRL's right--they're loud enough to drive you nuts!

In my car which is an 09 it is not in the main manual but in the radio manual which is a separate document from the owners manual. It is under the section called "Radio Settings". I have the Uplevel Stereo system and to change the chime level I have to press the music note, then press another button that gets me to Bass/Treble/Balance/Fader/PDC*/Chime settings. I turn the volume control to adjust then hit the return symbol to exit.
Anyway, not having your vehicle nor the documents that came with it I'm not sure that you can even change it. Maybe someone with an 07 and your particular radio type can help you. Sorry.

i agree on not being able to see the top half of the tach cuz its blocked by the steering wheel
i wish it was above the wheel, possibly right on the dashboard, kinda like the Si
also, the throttle response feels a bit delayed to me, even in sport mode
also, the revs dont climb as fast as i'd like, after driving an Si it feels slow
would a lightened flywheel do the trick?
i know there is a mod (supersprint booster?) for the throttle response,
but i dont feel like shelling out 300+ for it

Thanks, PatM--never thought of looking in the radio manual. I'll try it tomorrow.
r56cooper, you might solve your problem by adjusting the height of the steering wheel, along with the height of the seat. Also, the steering wheel can be adjusted in and out, and there will probably a combination that will allow you to see what you need. I'm particularly sensitive to warning lights, so I've spent a little time working it all out. I think this is a problem with all cars to some extent.
Canoehead, I've had lots of cars over the years (I sound like an old lady!), and all speedometers are inaccurate to some degree. Two or three miles doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

Test it with as many GPS units as you can...
