Hate the whole worthless center speedometer and fuel Gage. Never use the spedo and the fuel indicator is so inaccurate 150 miles before the first wedge goes out.

There have been threads about this before--apparently it's not the gauge so much as the fact that the measured (and stated) tank capacity doesn't include the fuel in the filler neck. That's probably what you're indicating with that first wedge.

Rattles, Rattles, Rattles...that no one can find the source of. Really not screwed together very well for the price. My daughter's 15k Sentra feels like a tank in comparison. 2008 with 18,000 miles. 3rd Copper for me but I'm ready to dump it for something that doesn't feel like it was built by Little Tikes.

Got three that bugs me:
1. 3k in, car is starting to rattle a bit.
2. can't shift into 1st and 5th gear with giant sized cups in cupholder!
3. cd player auto-start at the beginning of the song "feature"

One only thing: this damn diesel motor gets noisier day by day (or I'm getting more sensitive). My next MINI will definitely be a standard Cooper (or Cooper S), not a Cooper D...

Two suggestions--first, don't drive all the way up to the line. You'll still take the same amount of space as a "regular" car would. Second, watch the opposing traffic's lights out of your side window to get an idea of when you'll be next.

There is also a "Fresnel prism" kind of stick on some companies sell to solve this problem, but in 40 years of driving small and sports cars, I've never felt the need. And yes, I'm tall.

Maybe this should be call the "Whine about everything" forum! But, then again, it is called "What drives you nuts":

- Fuel guage is inaccurate -> Works just fine, fuel gets used, lights go out. What's to complain about? There's even a display that tells you miles to empty. What more do you want? Free gas?

- "No one touch up for windows" -> ??? Last time I checked, mine did.

- Rattles, rattles, rattles -> Mine was in the first batch from 2009, so I guess they were making sure things were right at the beginning of the model year. No rattles what-so-ever. Keep on the service guys to get them to fix it!

- Can't shift into 5th with a 480oz super gulp! -> I've had that happen to me to. I just about lost it! The thought of an 8oz cup makes me cringe!

- Can't see the red light when first in line. -> I hate that I can't see the ground under the car when driving either!

- Everything breaks. -> Everything works, sucks for you.

Some of the total number of miles I see posted surprize me. I have 18K+ on my 2009. This is just every day driving, since I don't work anymore.

AMEN! You guys don't know when you've got it good! Back in the good 'ol days--the 60's--our Porsche had no air conditioning, and valves, points, oil, etc., etc., had to be adjusted/changed/fixed every 3,000 miles. Air cooled engines don't put out much heat, which was a real joy in the winter, when you were cold, bun warmers were something for the dinner table, and there was ice on the windshield. Funny thing is, there were no rattles--still aren't, 45 years later!

Mr. T has it right--keep after the service guys. I just took mine in just before the warranty expired to see if there was anything they could do about a particularly vicious one that had just developed. And they got it--had to replace the entire dash, but it's quiet now!

And Btwyx is right, too. The '08's started the one touch windows, although that might not be true all over. I'm assuming that Betty Boop has a Euro version, as we don't have the diesels over here.

Since you asked...

1. No temp gauge on a $25K+ car?
2. No oil pressure " " " "?
3. No ammeter " " " "?
4. Mini can't spring for dual backup lights?

I love the car, but my daughter's $11,000 Kia has all of the above except #3. Sheesh.

I'm willing to concede that some customers may prefer idiot lights to gauges, and thanks Mini for making them optional, I guess. But who's the genius who decided we don't want too much illumination when driving backwards at night?

The interior controls mostly. Like the door lock switch. "Up" should unlock the doors, and "Down" should lock them. And when I turn the rear wiper "On", and then turn off the car and restart it, I have to turn the wiper to the "Off" position, and then back "On" to get it to work again. Oh, and the stupid "pie plate" speedo, and the window& lock controls being behind the shifter instead of on the doors where they should be. And before I get the "didn't you look at the car before you bought it" replies, I will say I enjoy driving the car immensely, but it's not perfect, and some of the things BMW did just leave me shaking my head. And couldn't I get variable speed wipers without paying for a package that includes a bunch of stuff I didn't want? Oh, and it needs more power.

Most of the things you don't like hark back to a time which was, most likely, way before you were born.
