R56 One thing that drives you nuts about your MINI!
I have held the tach in my hand...doesn't work. Its interesting some people say they think its on the driver's side. If I was forced to pick, I'd say its definitely NOT from that area. More a center speedo, passenger side thing. The secret compartment door already has the "running fix" that MINI did, with the rubber stop. I left it open one day and it still made that buzz. So I don't think its that.
Scary thing is, I've got the soft base 15" tires. I couldn't imagine having the sportier tires from a rattle/buzz point of view. Or maybe, actually, thats the trick. They beat the car into submission haha, while I'm giving mine the soft pillowey luxury treatment, lol.

That's why you need a passenger. If the door itself has to be held and "torqued" a bit. I could definitely dampen the buzz just by holding the door itself--but only when twisted. Eventually the entire dash was replaced.
NO KIDDING. Coming from a 2001 Jetta to a 2007 Justa last week, this is one of my major peeves. Also, it seems like you have to go to the dealer for a reprogram for every little mod. You could Mod a VW to the gills, and just use your VAG-COM to flip a few bits and you were DONE.
DO NOT LIKE the BMW method.

What year is yours? Mine has 1 touch up windows.

This kind of thing was not that uncommon back in the "olden days" when the original Mini's roamed the roads here in Canada. They were cheap to buy (used) and quite disposable, and when they got to be old heaps there were a lot of fun things you could do with them before they took that long last ride to the junk yard. Sawing off the top and getting a couple of months of summer driving was not unheard of. I had a Mini in the '70's that was on its last legs due to rust and brake issues. I put 4 tall snow tires and a roof rack on it and used it as an off-roader in an old quarry and on some forest trails near where I lived. What a hoot! It did surprisingly well in that environment. I still drove it on the street, too. It eventually ended up in the junk yard, as most did.
Somehow I just can't see doing that kind of thing with my '08 MINI when it gets old and decrepit. Times have changed!!

Innacurate Gas Gauge!!!
"Stupid gas gauge!" - Homer S. Simpson
But seriously...today my 07 MCS shows 5 of the 10 candy corns gone, so the tank would be HALF FULL, right? WRONG! At the pumps, it takes 9.77 gallons to fill it. The tank holds 13.2 gallons. So the car shows half full but in reality has about 26% of the tank left. I find that unacceptable.

On my car, if it's full to the brim according to the gas station shutoff click, I get about 120 miles before the first light goes off. The rest of the lights aren't proportional to this. This seems to be pretty typical, judging by what others have said over the years.
I don't think so. I've looked. IIRC, it requires a sensor on the window to keep from amputating fingers, and the 2007 doesn't have that sensor.
Chimex from CravenSpeed. Works great. Plugs into the seatbelt connector. When not in use, the cable keeps it from getting lost.

Only tall people can wear cuffs in MINIs.

Also, when I wear pants with cuffs, the cuff always catches on the up down seat adjuster when I get out of the care. (I Know, I know - don't wear cuffs!)
