Looks like the model available in Canada (through Mini anyway) is different:

Anybody has this armrest? Not sure how this would look once installed - especially from the rear seats...

It seems to be available through Mini Mania as well: http://new.minimania.com/web/Item/G2.../InvDetail.cfm

We have have four MINI's and currently have an 08 S and 09 S. The 08 has an attitude all it's own. The window functions are interrupted if you touch ANY Other toggle in the car. If you have the driver's window going up and toggle the passenger window up - the driver's window goes down. Same thing happens if you toggle the locks etc. None of the others do that.

Quick comment on the armrest. We ordered the new one with it for the first time and I wouldn't have it any other way. Love it!

I'm on the Fence with that one, altough it looks quite nice. It looks deep enough, I have the Rubber Instert that is pictured in it, it is between my Hand Brake and Gear Shifter, I like it a lot, it's another place to put Flat Things on, i.e. Cell Phone when the Cup Holders are Full, it doesn't allow things to move around or Rattle!!

I like how it opens, BUT...and this is only a but IMHO, it looks like every other Arm Rest out there, so I'll stick with the one I have. I wouldn't mind seeing a pic. of one installed though.

IamLili the pics. you are showing are of 2 different Model Years, the one on the right is from an '06 or Older, the other one is/or possibly current Model Year '07 or Newer. So if you are looking to order a 2010, the one on the left would be the one to order either aftermarket or see if it is an option to have installed when you take delivery of your MINI.

Ha. Thanks so much! I'm really wondering what the newer one looks like when sitting in the back - but then again, I'd never sit back there. I'd be at the wheel! Think it looks ok and could prove useful nonetheless.

When I'll place my order, I'll inquire about the price and maybe have it installed before delivery (or try to get it as a freebie?). But it could be more worthwhile to order aftermarket.

Now back to your regular programming: One thing that drives you nuts about your MINI!

Is mine different? If it starts to rain, or I'm in a big hurry, I leave the fob in my pocket, push the little rubber covered button on the door handle, jump in and push the start button. After a very short delay it starts and I'm off.

Is that what you guys have: http://www.motoringfile.com/2005/02/...rest_revealed/
What's wrong with it? Well, when you get your car (and have a few miles on it), you'll discover that it won't stay closed. The sliding top is always open! Yes, it's a warranty item--I'm on my third one. No more warranty, but it started malfunctioning about a month after the last one was replaced.

Poor design. I'd love to get a clamshell version, but the dealer says they're $200+, and the replacement junk can't be credited toward it. POS.

Sounds like you have "Comfort Access."

The stupid stock armrest lid doesn't stay closed, even after the dealer "fixed" it. It's also very small and for the most part not very useful. Should have saved the money and bought a euro armrest after market

Twstgrp your's is different than Hubs...you have Comfort Access, I do as well, wouldn't be without it. But those without Comfort Access have to use the Key Fob inserted in the Docking Station to start their cars. Comofor Access is quite convenient and I can't see why anyone would not have this feature!!

I have a 2008 R56 MCS and I have the one on the left. The one on the right is the factory armrest (when ordered with an armrest). The one on the left is the one you buy from Mini to install yourself (10 minute install).

The one I have (one the left) is not very sturdy. But it does work and does not break.

the "change lanes" option for the turn signal/blinker does something similar for me.
Since the only options for this feature are to blink 3x or 1x, I change lanes a lot more aggressively since I got the Mini. If it were up to me, I would have it blink at least 5x for this feature.[/quote]

I have mine set to blink as long as I hold the lever down.

It must be the angle/aerodynamics, but the MINI windshield seems more prone to sandblasting and pitting; very visually noticeable and drives me nuts when I'm driving towards a sunrise or sunset.

I don't know about Texas, but in Mass, windshield replacement is covered by your insurance. It doesn't have to be broken, if the visibility is badly degraded, they will cover replacement.

The further South you go the less coverage you get.

It appears the further South you go the less coverage you get. I'm from Buffalo originally (witch had glass coverage) and to Tennessee for work and there is no glass coverage available and I pay more to boot!

Amazing isn't it? I've had my 2009 10 months - Sandblasting is exactly how I'd describe it. Nutty, such a great car with a soft windshield and terrible sound system. I'm rectifying the later soon with

JL Audio TR speakers, JL Audio XD 600/6 Amp DQL-8 Audio Control EQ and a JL Flatwedge Subwoofer Box (saves some space) with an 8" JL Sub. It all goes in tomorrow April 26 .

Hope to see you all at the Dragon!

Except in Florida. We had a very liberal windshield insurance when we lived there. If you had visible damage, you could get it replaced with no deductible. And you could have done every six months. My wife's truck's windshield got took out twice in one year. No charge both times.

See ya at the Dragon.

It's a combination of the type of glass and the sandblasting effect. I'm about at the point that I need to replace it, at only 55,000 miles, but it won't be with an OEM windshield. They are much softer than aftermarket brands.

Incidentally, my 3 year old windshield is nearly as bad as our old Porsche's windshield was when we replaced it during restoration. It was 40 years old at the time!

I can't speak for everyone but I dont' think it's the # of clicks that makes me drive more aggressively. It's that darn XLR8R!

My '08 MC did this, and my '09 MCS does it as well. I especially notice it right after I shut off the car. It really is almost like a "thud" or a "thwump"... it does it a couple times usually... a bit sporadic but weird nonetheless.

Here is a question... I'm annoyed that I think I only got HALF OF THE CHROMELINE INTERIOR!

My gf noticed it actually... my '08 MC had crome around the speakers in the door...

My MCS Has chrome everywhere except for around the speakers on the door! They are piano black rings! (Weird because there is NO piano black in my car-- I have the brushed aluminium trim)

What up with that?!?! Am I going crazy or is there supposed to be chrome trim around the speakers too?!?
