Seriously, I'm very happy with Zippeee!--just wish they'd thought of this particular point.

I'm not technologically advanced enough to grasp this MP3 business. What is it, and how do I get it? How do I download an audio book that I get from the library? (I'm old enough to remember when the Commodore was the latest and greatest. It was the only computor I've ever had where I played video games--I got addicted to Space something--and I swore I'd never play one again!)
I started drawing social security last year, so if I can work an MP3 player so can you.

I got mine at Best Buy. My library uses a service called "Overdrive" where you can download from your home computer. There is also a web site where you can download books for a fee. Be sure the MP3 player you get can do books in MP3, WMA and WMA secure formats. I just asked the youngest sales person I could fine and they fixed me right up.

Plug it into your AUX jack and your all set.

I'll call the library. Do you have a link or name of the web site?

BTW, I was at a Florida flea market a couple of Saturdays ago, and couldn't believe the number of 8-tracks for sale. I didn't know any were still around...

Here ya go.

http://www.audible.com/adbl/site/tem...MA0209WS021609

I have my Akai 1800SD reel to reel tape deck I brought back form Viet Nam sitting on my desk with an 8 Track player built in. Both still work very well.

Thanks.

I remember reel-to-reel tape players. My old man got one in the 50's. No such thing as Japanese electronics back then, though. Japanese cars, either.

He did get an Anglia, though. As a kid, the thing I remember most was that access to the rear seats was by lifting the ENTIRE front seat. It was hinged at the front. I don't think it would get too far today...

Terrible car, BTW, as it was totally unreliable.

What I love about my Mini is that it is a well built modern example of a old car I remember from the past. The cars back then would not hold up to the freeway driving or the distance we do today, but were fun. This is the best of both worlds.

Yeah, and "that's a girl's car." Got it again today (I'm a woman). I asked him if he'd ever driven one, especially an S. Apparently he had--on test drives.

Why do guys minimize MINIs (pun intended) on the basis of a dealer-led test drive? Even my son does it, although the first time he sat in it was at an autocross, where he just about blew everyone away?

After 7K miles trouble free driving the passanger side window did not go back up to seal after the door was closed. I did not notice this until the following day and of course it poured rain all night. Passagers set was soaked and the side of the seat back was wrinkled. I was not happy. Then it started to work fine, but I kept an eye on it. Today it first would not go up or down when door was opened/closed, then down and up but not enough to seal. Now it goes down when you close the door. At least ai can seal it with the toggle switch, but this is a pain. I guess I hve a trip to the dealer.

Jim

BTW: I got the seat tight again with a heat gun.

Door Check (or brake)

i would like to be able to get out of the car by just tossing the door open and then just get out...however, when I toss the door open it doesn't stay open...so I have to carefully open the door and hold it in place. Also applies to when I am getting things out of the back seat...my Mini likes to spank me!

You're not supposed to get out, silly! Your MINI is angry with you.

Briano--what about the wipers?

I have read this posted before and find it odd. My old Mustang use to try and crush my leg with the door all the time. My 09 mini has two solid hold positions, makes no attempt to shut on me even when on un-even ground and I love it.

Perhaps there is an adjustment that can be made.

Driver's side window relay. It will sometimes go up, sometimes go down, but only after start-stopping it several times on the way. Sometimes it will only go halfway up. Most of the time, it just does not seal all the way when you close the door. Too annoying, but no time to take it a few hours away to get it repaired.

Both of our cars are the same way. There are 2 distinct detents on the doors and they stay open fine. Maybe the flaw is on earlier cars?

This is covered in another thread in great detail, but one fix they gave worked for me:

Press and hold the toggle to take the window all the way down. Then press and hold the toggle up to take it all the way back up AND CONTINUE HOLDING THE TOGGLE UP FOR 15 SECONDS before releasing it. It is said this will reset the memory and it did work for me.

I also agree that the doors don't stay open easily. But - I believe its all in the way that the door is opened. The "complainers" (including myself) just fling the door open and expect it to stay. When it doesn't work, we push again, but now a little easier, but that's still too hard and it closes again. OK, we push ridiculously easy (a relative statement), but it still closes!?!? All right, this door sucks! Now the people who think the door is just fine, push it open (with the drivers side leaning slightly downhill), and have no problem. Or, they do the "push and hold" with their arms and never have an issue no matter how it leans. Personally, I think the detents could be a bit larger.

The top of my driveway slants. Where I park, the driver's door is opening up-hill. I honestly have to push against some resistance to get to eaither of the two open positions. I love my doors, so there could be an adjustment of some sort since some remain open and others don't. I've never had cause to look, but my headlights were sure messed up when it came from the dealer, so perhaps the doors are in the same bost.

I am sure it has been said 100 times before but......BRAKE DUST!!!

I really enjoy detailing my MINI but the brake dust is just ridiculous. I take no joy in cleaning the wheels over and over.

Supersize rear view makes it very difficult to drive the twisties and I drive the twisties everyday. Gas Tank indicator is backwards, pump is on the wrong side.

Frankly, I have had more issues with MINI owners than I ever had with MINIs. Thankfully this not universally so.
