I hate that in Canada you can't get heated seats as a stand alone option. They are bundled with the sunroof as part of a package. I rarely use the sunroof but always use the heated seats. If it costs me a dollar every time I use them I will have to use them 1500 times to justify that package cost. hahaha

But our MINI's have one touch up and one touch down for both windows....

Just the other day I was complaining about this to a coworker.

I don't know who told you that you could not order heated seats separately in CANADA, because I did! It was a separate option on the list, a $450 one and i checked it when I ordered mine.... So I'm not sure why you could not do that.

What pisses me off about these cars is that in cold climates, #1, they are not designed for it so they don't even run right sometimes when they are cold, and the fact that I constantly have to reset the windows because they think that something is blocking them in the winter when they are cold, so they don't go up or down properly....

Other then that, its a great car...

Apparently it used to be available on it's own. I think the '09s are the first for it to be bundled. Every dealer in Southern Ontario I talked to said it is a package item only now. On pricing the car on mini.ca it only comes up in the 'comfort package'.

My dealer hinted at that they could do it afterwards but after thinking about how much labour time to rip the seats apart, install the heaters, wire them up and put it all back together I decided just to get the factory package.

Yah-- it's totally part of a package now. It is not a stand alone option. I like how USA Build MINI's allow for more customization. The USA MINI website also hast the best "Build your own" MINI configurator of any site-- UK included!

And to keep in the theme of the thread-- ONE more thing that drives me nuts about my car... the sunshade for the sunroof should be opaque!

Now, what matters is sample-to-sample error, not absolute error, so that will buy you something... but I think the 2-3 mph of error you were seeing could be accounted for by GPS error alone.

That said, another source of error may very well have been on the car's end. Federal regulation mandates that speedometers be accurate to within 5% (for 45 mph again, that's as much as 2.25 mph of error right there). But modifications can be significant as well -- put 17" wheels on a car expecting 16" wheels, you've added maybe another 4% of error right there (depending on tire thickness).

The point? Neither GPS nor the speedo are terribly accurate systems. Honestly, that you hit the mark right on with 3 of your cars is probably a good case of luck, or perhaps unintentional bias (it's not a blind study, of course).

Something rather interesting: GPS measurement error will decrease as speed increases, but speedometer measurement error will increase.
I have found, via GPS, that my speedo is off from 2 to 5 mph as speed increases from 40 to 80mph. I checked this with a stopwatch and mile markers over 5 mile courses on flat straight interstates and at those radar speed checks with the large readout signs. Despite the informative engineering analysis, I think the GPS is trustworthy. BTW, I've checked my two GPS against each other, also, and they agreed within .1mph.

Several times the car bucked if I left off the clutch too soon after press the start/stop button. Maybe this is just me, but it seems that there is a delay that I must account for. Then I have to press the start/stop button again to turn off the radio! Wow, just too mentally exausting after a long day!
I had a similar problem until I reset the language to English (US).

So do US ones since the second half of 07. Better late than never, but too late for Tristan.

i hate when the seat belts get caught between the seat and side of the car when you're trying to put them on. i know this can be easily fixed with the seat belt doo-dads... i'll get around to it someday haha

The sunvisor(s) do not block out the sun! I need to drive towards the sunrise to get to work in the morning and then towards the sunset to get home, all while sitting at an awkward angle just so I can see without being blinded by the sun.

You need a pair of Aviators (men) or some nice Dolce Gabbanas (women)...I always though a cool pair of shades were standard MINI gear

I still find it hard to believe that the sun visor doesn't block the sun for you...it covers ~ half the windshield!

I'm sure this has been mentioned.. but the fact that the lighter and rear aux 12v power only work when the key is in, really Sucks!

Well everyone sees things differently - I love this fact since I use that feed to power my sub.

Pretty much every car has an optimistic speedometer. I've heard even a 10% error margin.

Oh and my GF doesn't like the fact that Oxygen Blue is a Mini Cooper (non-S) color only.

Well, that circuit has a 20A fuse, so if it's designed to provide that much current, it would be more than adequate to power a 100-125 Watt amplifier or powered subwoofer.

Personally, since I have an 'S', I'd power the amplifier or powered sub from the battery in the back since it's right there, and just use the power outlet circuit for the amp turn-on lead.

Oops - forgot which forum I was in. In the first-gen models, the 'S' had the battery located under the floor of the boot.

I selected standard lights because... I hate 2nd gen's fishy headlights. So standard lights look more like traditional straight headlights covered by fishy glass cover. Xenons look like complete shapeless fishy thing.

Can't help with the rest of your list, but have you heard about the LightInSight? It's a favorite among MINI owners.
