Saying your somewhat of historian with your credentials is like saying your somewhat of a Doctor, because you volunteered at a hospital. Being a Historian is not a title you give yourself, and I'm sure tour guide school was very intense and all, how long was it btw?

No I have a BA in History, not European (hell I doubt any school even offers that), I just said my specialty was European, meaning I took more credits in European than Civil War (which was a close second). Would you like to see a copy of my transcript, I can give you my MS in Education, and most of my course work for my PsyD. (btw that would be you twisting words)

Now if you support his right to do so, you shouldn't be telling him he shouldn't do it. Warning someone and saying he shouldn't do it is absolutely empowering those that would take away his right. And to me is no better than doing it yourself. You of course have the right to disagree, but thats the way I see it,.

You are its that simple, by telling someone not to do it because of the vandalism, you are empowering the vandals. And by constantly bringing it up and you are essentially trying to discourage him, and basically telling him not to.

I on the other hand respect his rights, and if his car is vandalized, well shame on the vandals, its not the owners fault, and that should not be a controlling influence on him doing it or not.

Looks, this is the OP's decision to make. I think we've all made our positions on where we stand perfectly clear by now.

Many feel that of the OP does add the flag he is asking for vandalism because he may offend someone. It's up to the OP to decide how much of a risk he wants to take in this matter.

Unless you can now add anything new that we have yet to see in this in this discussion I politely ask that you refrain from adding anything else.

If the debate over history, credentials and most anything else besides where the OP can obtain what he still may desire does not stop this thread will be locked.

I went to college in San Francisco for awhile, visited there often, and now live about a 2.5 hours drive away. I've known and worked with gays. Of all the cities in the USA, SF would not be very high on my list of cities where I would expect a violent reaction to a political statement on a car. There are probably neighborhoods in SF where a MINI with a Confederate flag roof might get vandalized, but the Gay neighborhoods, or business districts would not be the places I would consider most likely.

Yes, I had mixed feelings about that. It was funny, sad, scary, and annoying.
