More pics from Mt. St. Helens

Whew~~ That's all.
It was a nice drive up the mountain with very little traffic. I had to try really hard to keep the engine speed below 4500 RPM. Can't wait to take this car to the track.

Eery.. It looks like the area will be desolate for many, many years to come.

Were any of the 'close' pix of the mountain taken where it blew out?

You can see in the picture below where the clouds are covering up the peak of the mountain. It is still quite farther up the moutain. Mt. St. Helens is 8365 ft tall and I was just over 3000ft high. At 3000 ft the MCS passed other cars with ease...

I was up to Helens in 2000 - it's come a long way since then. Mother Nature is incredible!

Thanks for sharing

Yes, very nice pics!! She's a great looking Mini! I happened to be living in Vancouver, WA when Mt. St. Helens erupted 5/18/80. We got a lot of ash, boy was that ever fun to clean up. Luckily we didn't get it quite as bad as other places but it still wasn't fun.

I remember climbing up onto our garage to take pictures of the ash plumes. I should have held onto the couple of coffee cans full of ash that I had saved for several years. I've seen people selling it, with how much I had, I could of made a tidy sum of money from it.
