This is a real bunmmmmer.
If my MA is correct my stripes were being installed at the VDC and if so, does not appear to be that much of a hold up. Of course I won't really know where or whom installed them.
Time wise the differance of going to East Bay Mini or to Sacramento should be hours, not days, unless they have a shortage of Waggoner trucks avialable at the VDC.
I would keep checking the OL sight to see what it shows for a delivery date, hopefully the MA is being conservative and it will be sooner.

I was looking over his shoulder, so the info wasn't really coming from him. The estimate from the VDC is an 8/13 departure.

I decided in my boredeom to try ASK MINI, the recording says I'm at the port awaiting a shipping vessel. Gotta luv the ASK MINI process at times, it was saying enroute and to contact the dealer.
Thanks! Did East Bay say you will get the car on Saturday?

They need a day to clean the car, etc before I get it, so this puts me at 8/18.

Why the 4-day discrepancy between East Bay-bound cars and my car? Unclear. The guy did say that my MA chose the option where the stripes are put on at the VDC and this delays things. Apparently, Niello can also apply the stripes up here and it is much faster because your car isn't pulled out of "line" at the VDC. I guess my MA is a newbie. (My MA = )

This really sucks!! I am so sorry. I really think this sounds like a mistake. There werent THAT many minis on the ship, so why is it taking so long? Maybe there is a mistake in the system?

I'm inclined to blame my ignoramous MA, but that might not be fair. Of course, I do worry about the possibility of it having been damaged en route. That might account for more delay.

The dude at Niello didn't seem to think this was unusual, so maybe I'm not that unlucky...you are just lucky. Better some than none.

Oh....well guess I can't come up with any info that will make things seem brighter then. Could hope that the VDC is faster than estimated, either that or the dates we have will be bumped up.

I appreciate everyone's concern, but certainly don't let me dampen your excitement. I'm excited on your bahalf that you will see your Minis this weekend.

Post lots of pictures!

Well you are only an hour north and I'll be rushing to get the break in finished, may just motor up your direction and say hi, help kill your extra wait time.

Speaking of the break-in...

my understanding is you shouldn't go 95mph, over 4K rpms, or use cruise control for the first 200 miles or so. I know there's no official rule, but is this your understand as well? Seems quite arbitrary.

The break in thing is another topic that there is a zillion opions on. My belief is you don't want to get on a freeway, set cruise and travel that way for hours. You want varying speeds and not to abuse the engine. So ya your understanding would be a good guide line.

Well I am screwed then. I live in South Bay, so I have to drive on the free way for at least an hour. Oh well..

East Bay Called

Okay just had a call from Blair the one I talked to on Monday, seems my original MA is avoiding me. Was calling to see what if any dealer options I had (like don't they know, or can't they read the order sheet) and said he was organizing all the Mini's they had arriving. Told him I was using CUDL and he says they are a member, so that should simplify paper work.
I mentioned the only dealer items was the floor mats that were mentioned, he asked carpeted or rubber, I requested carpeted, so will see if they are in the car.
As for delivery day, his statment was if they receive it on Saturday early enough, could pick him up that day, if not, it would be Sunday.
So will see how things go.

Tonic hold out for the floor mats as well.

A side note about stripes, if they were ordered from the factory, they install them. Only when they are ordered as a dealer option are they then put on at the VDC or the dealer, forgot I learned that weeks ago.

Seems there's a difference between the bonnet stripes and racing stripes? I seem to remember my MA saying something of that nature. Oh wait, I forgot I don't believe my MA knows much about anything right this minute.

I guess I'm still reeling that my wait has been extended so much. I wonder if the truck is just plain full and my car got bumped to the next group--something as simple as that. :impatient

Sorry..........my bad, if you ordered anything other than the bonnet stripes, then yes, if your MA ordered them installed by the VDC, that could be one reason for your extra time.
This is all way to confusing.:impatient

Interesting about CUDL. They told me my credit union didnt work with them, so I had to get a check. However, I know for a fact my credit union works with CUDL. Weird. Oh well, the loan is the same so it doesnt really matter where it comes from. They also have a 5 day period where I can change lenders, so worst case I can switch. Blair is my MA

I don't understand why a different kind of stripe would be VDC versus factory installed. Oh well. I hope your MA is still wrong and it gets in sooner.

Just checked OL, no update.

Seems it depends on whom you talk to and what day it is determines the answer one receives. Blair did not even try to match my credit union interest rate. It also seems Robert has turned this sale over to Blair to complete. They are likeable guys but seem to be a bit lacking at keeping things on track for me.
Does not matter it will all be over soon.
